Studies On Cultural Security Problems Of China Under The Social Transformation

Culture, accumulating the national history, inheriting the national sentiments and shaping the nation’s values and way of life, is the spirit and blood of a nation in its continuous reproduction. The healthy development of culture is the premise and condition of the nation’s survival and development. In modern times with the expansion of capitalist mode of production in the world, especially since the late20th century, the economic globalization rose and got rapid development, accompanied by more is the expansion of culture. Developed countries pursue cultural infiltration and cultural hegemony and promote its values and way of life to the countries with relatively backward economy and culture, impacting strongly the national cultural sovereignty and decomposing the culture foundation of the nation state, by virtue of its first-mover advantages in the informationization process and a leading role in the economic globalization process. In today’s world, national security is more of a recessive cultural security than the political and military security in traditional sense. No national cultural security, any other security cannot be truly guaranteed. The collapse of the Soviet Union, not because its military power isn’t strong, but because its culture had lost its cohesion and competitiveness that a great power should have, ultimately failing to ensure its cultural security. In the age of world multi-polarization and economic globalization, if a country only pays attention to traditional security and ignores the cultural security in the field of non-traditional security, it is impossible to have a real sense of national security. Based on this background, the national cultural security becomes increasingly prominent and causes more attention of scholars, and this has become a major issue that must be faced under China’s social transformation.Therefore, in today’s era when peace and development are regarded as the theme of the times, our country under the social transformation must maintain the cultural security in the first place to achieve national security in the real sense. This text discusses from four parts:the first part is the introduction, stating the present situation of the research and significance of the topic, etc; the second part is the interpretation of the concept of culture security, starting from the aspects of its connotation, characteristics, basic contents and important status, such as to provide the theoretical foundation for the whole text, and points out the importance and necessity of cultural security in our country; the third part comprehensively discusses the cultural security problems in the period of social transformation, and analyzes the causes one by one, to find the crux of the problems, so that provide the realistic basis for the strategic choices; the fourth part puts forward the strategic choices that safeguard cultural security in China from inside and outside two aspects, mainly including the following four aspects: to strengthen China’s dominating ideology construction, resist consciously all kinds of wrong social trend of thought, promote national cultural soft power, and guard against the cultural infiltration of the western hostile forces.
