The poem school of Han Yu and Meng Jiao (hereafter referred to as SHM) is one of the important poem schools of middle Tang dynasty, including couples of members such as Han Yu, Meng Jiao, Li He and Jia Dao. Their poems play a key role in Chinese poem history with the characteristics of innovation and creation. By means of the theory of dissemination and reception aesthetics, on the basis of previous research, this dissertation first probes the dissemination and reception history of SHM systematically from middle Tang to modern China, then summarizes communicative law and evolution history of poem. Furthermore, the dissertation probes the inner social and culture factors that contribute to the pattern of dissemination and reception history. And finally, the dissertation attempts to enunciate the complex phenomenon of literature-culture from multi-angles and multi-perspectives. There have several objectives of the research. Firstly, try to inquire more profoundly into SHM dynamically and aesthetically. Secondly, taking SHM as a case study to probe some phenomena during the evolution of Chinese poem history. And thirdly, try to seek a more wealthy and synthetic paradigm of Chinese classical literature research on reception history.Part I. (from chapter I to chapter IV). This part mainly analyzes the comments and succession of different readers on SHM in the order of dynasties. On the premise of general description of reception condition, this part emphasizes the significance of some key receivers in the history of reception to SHM.On the whole, at middle and late Tang and Wudai dynasties, the enthusiasm for commenting on the poems of SHM ran high. The activity of composition of SHM reached the point of culmination at Yuan He (reign of emperor Xian Zong). The interaction among the members contributed to the formation of a common style. They recognized the style clearly and developed it by means of commenting and composing, which is the exemplification of self-reception of SHM. At the same time, Bai Juyi, Zhang Ji, Liu Zongyuan and Liu Yuxi enunciated disparate features of SHM respectively. At the late Tang and Wudai dynasties, Li He and Jia Dao won popularity and many readers imitated their poems, while the poems of Han Yu and Meng Jiaomostly exerted influence on readers potentially. The comments and evaluation of Du Mu on Li He's poems have a far-reaching impact on futurity readers, which got him a title of " the first reader" in the reception history of Li He's poems.Song dynasty occupies an important place in reception history of SHM. Song dynasty's readers made an unprecedented contribution to reception of SHM in different aspects such as compiling, literature gathering, commenting and composing. Ouyang Xiu and Mei Yaochen exalted the artistic feature of SHM in order to criticize and get rid of the flaws of literature at the early Song dynasty, which promoted the formation of the phenomenon of esteeming Han Yu. Su Shi realized Han Yu's turning point position in poem history, and his comments on the artistic feature of Meng Jao and Jia Dao has been generally accepted as a rule throughout the ages. In addition, Wang Anshi, Wang Ling, Huang Tingjian and Chen Shidao are also prominent poets of North Song dynasty in learning from Han Yu. At South Song dynasty, "Si Ling"and school of "Jiang Hu" were influenced by the feature of Jia Dao tremendously. Li He, who was ignored by the literature circle of North Song dynasty, was attracting the attention of readers gradually. Among those readers, Liu Chenweng and Xie Ao, the poets of late Song dynasty, made greater contribution to the reception of Li He. Moreover, Chen Shan, Zhang Jie, Liu Kezhuang and Yan Yu dealt with SHM profoundly on its composing methods, artistic features and position in poem history. The comments on SHM of readers of Jin dynasty are on the whole the same as those of Song dynasty. Generally, they exalted Han Yu but belittled Meng Jiao and Jia Dao. As for Li He, most literati mostly had an attitude of disparagement at the early Jin dynasty; however, he spurted into popularity at latter part of Jin. Among the commentators of Jin, Yuan Haowen is of paramount importance. Readers of Yuan dynasty inherited South Song and Jin's tradition of worshiping poems of Tang dynasty. Especially literati inclined to raise Li He to a lofty position at late Yuan, which is a vital character in literature circle of Yuan. Yang Weizhen is a representative poet who devoted himself to learning from Li He. The literati of Yuan dynasty accepted the subjective inclination and bizarre feature of SHM and developed it to the full extent.During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the scale of dissemination and reception of SHM expanded tremendously. Literati made exhaustive and intensive study on SHM 's position in poem history and the disparities in different members. Especially in Qing dynasty, the comments seemed more impartial, objective and mature. Somecommentators of Ming dynasty who worshiped poem of Tang had a low opinion of SHM, but literati of the school of " Gong An" and "Jing Ling" exalted SHM's inclination of subjectivity and individualization. Xu Wei is an outstanding poet on learning Li He in Ming Dynasty. At early Q ing dynasty, Ye Xie recognized Han Yu 's merit of renovating Tang poem from the angle of poem history. His evaluation on SHM is different from that of previous commentators. Therefore, Ye Xie is called "the second reader" in the reception history if SHM. Besides, Zhao Yi and Fang Dongshu also described the artistic feature of Han Yu's poems profoundly.Part II .(chapter V ) This part mainly probes the evolution of text of SHM and the influence on its reception by means of study on literati's works and anthology. By comparing evolution of works of Han Yu, Meng Jiao, Li He and Jia Dao, the part generalizes the obvious imbalance among them. Han Yu and Li He 's works boast a large number of editions, and collections of comments and evaluation are also very abundant. However, the edition of Meng Jiao and Jia Dao's works seems a bit less, and comments and compiling on their works are also less than those of Han and Li.The ratio of SHM's poems in anthology of Chinese dynasties has 3 features. First, comparing with the total quantity, the number of poems in anthology is small. Second, the sum of members' poem in anthology is severely different from each other. Third, different anthology selects completely different poems of the SHM members. SHM's artistic feature such as subjectivity and eccentricity contributes to the style of anthology. In addition, the dissemination of anthology limited the horizon of the readers; therefore, common readers cannot get an overall style of the poets and school from reading the poems in anthology. In summary, artistic feature of SHM is not only interpreted by readers of different dynasties, but also inherited respectively by futurity readers to various degrees, which are closely bound up with literature and culture background of different receivers.
