Hans Werner Henze(1926-) is one of the most important German composers in the post second world war. Henze was a unique master in 20th century of Western music history. He was reputed not in the radical compositional techniques, also was hardly to be classified into a concrete musical genre. His compositions do not stick on one pattern, instead of melting various styles, he had set up the individuate style by absorbing various essential methods.The 10 symphonies were occupied the important position among Henze's musical works, the span between symphony No.1 and No.10 was crossed over exactly half century. combine the primitive simplicity of the Mediaeval and the radicalism of 20th century, the freedom of the folks music and the special care of professional creation, The Italianism gaudiness and the Germany rationalism, the elegance of Western Europe and the roughness of South American, the vehemence of social revolution and the profundity of humanities thought, all among his symphonies……integrated in various different time-space types and in completely harmony. All of these form the colorful individuality in his composing techniques, musical style and esthetics principles.My research object focuses on the Henze's symphonies, which logically analyzed to the various expressive elements of his 10 symphonies and especially analysis on his representative 3 symphonies. Based on the study, the thesis explored on Henze's composing skills, musical style and esthetics principle existing in the symphonies.The thesis consists of three sections, the introduction, the text and conclusion. In the introduction, it makes a general explanation on the topic's meaning, research consideration and the Henze's artistic and composing experience. The text is divided into three parts: The first part makes a deeply study on the pitch structure, harmonistic skills, contrapuntal methods, characters of rhythm- time signatures, features of orchestration and formal structure around the symphonies; The second part carry on the comprehensive music analysis to the 3rd, the 6th and the 9th symphony separately; There is a synthetic research on the basis of technical analysis to Henze's symphonies in the third part., which faced on genre of so called THE PAN-TECHNICAL GENRE among Henze's symphonies, and especially analyze the factors of literary and dramatics which embody Henze's symphonies, also, it makes a more detailed introduction to the esthetics ideas of the Henze's musical composition. Finally, it evaluates on Henze's symphonies in integration in my conclusion part.
