Twentieth Century was the period for the western composers to try to find the era of personal expression and unique music language, this period seemed to be able to sketch out an outline of the development of music in accordance with different schools. But there were also some composers did not belong to a particular genre, they maneuver in different creation styles. Henze was one of such and well known as “pan technique” composer. Hans Werner Henze was a famous contemporary Germany composer in twentieth Century; he created a lot of excellent music works of different genres during his life. Among the numerous composers in twentieth Century, Henze showed more unique and innovative consciousness. On the one hand, his music was with strong German "gene", but his creation technique was hard to be classified as a particular genre of music, his fusion of different techniques formed his own style, and his music was more to develop technique innovation rather than renovation. On the other hand, Henze’s works was with strong humanistic thought and spirit connotation. Henze used to put his comments on “music and politics" in public that his opera and symphony had literary dramatic character, and reflected the concern to the people in the bottom of society.In this paper, "the Fifth Symphony" is the object of study. The author analysis the techniques of this work in the aspects of pitch, rhythm, orchestration and structure. At the same time, this paper combined the characteristics and culture aesthetic connotation of the work, and tries to understand the composer’s thinking, intention and aesthetic standards of music. The purpose of this research is for the author to get artistic accomplishment as well as the nurture and enhance of spiritual realm from the Fifth Symphony, and so, to directly guide the author’s actual music creation.
