We are now embracing a new age of intelligence as a variety of technological advancements have been achieved across industries. The business world has seen an exponential growth in the amount of technical communication materials and contents that are being generated and offered to customers,to promote products and technological solutions. In order to reach the largest possible audience in China, foreign businesses operating in China need to explain the functionality of their products in a language that they understand, and feel like reading. This can be challenging for foreign businesses engaged in the provision of technological products and solutions.Based on the translation project on industrial communication the writer has participated, this paper discusses three main challenges in producing quality translation which fulfills the goals of conveying both vocative and technical information in technical communication: understanding technical concepts with complicated operation principles, transferring emotional languages and images, and translating compressed sentences overflowing with information.A number of strategies are explored, including focusing on technical themes and clarifying application process, making proper use of positive expressions, and working on the reader-friendliness of the target text by applying a certain level of freedom in word choices and typesetting. It is hoped that this article will inform further research into ways to deliver quality translation of technical communication materials.
