As a special element of spirit, emotion plays an important role in personal moral development .But now it baffles us so far in moral emotional education. This dissertation which aims at improving moral emotional education will discuss the questions from the following three parts.In the first part, the paper begins with the question "the puzzle of emotion understanding", then reviews the research history of moral education . Based on the emotional status and function, it narrates positive and negative viewpoints which regarded emotion as a factor of body spirit in the past , collects different opinions about the functions of cognition and emotion in human moral development ,and particularizes some psychological theories of emotion appearing through tracing the source of dissension. Then the author explains the puzzle from methodology. A person's understanding is often influenced by his historical visual threshold, which distinctly presents his research visual field and angle of the investigator. Varied theories and hypothesis are actually expatiation of different investigators who stand for their visual angles to emotion, which include their all epistemic backgrounds. Therefore it may be a good approach to think the rationality of investigators' epistemic backgrounds.Subsequently the dissertation posts the disadvantages in emotion research from"misapprehending to language logic" and "blindness of simple thinking" . Then itascertains the emotion meaning and its status and action by analyzing three kindsof concepts, which are feeling vs emotion, mood vs emotion and moralcognition vs moral emotion.In the second part of "the generation of moral emotion", the dissertation standing on the pedagogics perspective divides the generation of moral emotion into direct and indirect responses according to the simulating events. Although there are the same steps i.e. the understanding, experience and response in two modes, the feeling of individual who is in the different situation has a great diversity. It doesn't bring on the varying characters of emotion in two modes, but also brings the level change in indirect response, and decides their significance. The direct response, which is the fountain of people' emotion, has a long-term extensive significance to one's life. The indirect response is an important emotion learning mode.
