With the prose in the northern dynasties as the research object, this dissertation makes a plausible and convincible explanation of form and evolvement of the prose in the northern dynasties by ways of the"Aboriginal grasp way"put forward by Pro. Wang Zhong-Ling who generalized the development of prose in the northern dynasties to three stages which are the stage of conversion of minority nationalities to Han culture, the stage of imitation of the south by the north, the stage of improvement and transcendence of the southern tradition by the northern.This thesis contains three parts: introduction, main text and conclusion. The introduction gives a brief review of research history, the current state, the methods and the significance of the research. The main text consists of two volumes. The first volume divided by two chapters. The first chapter made a definition of the prose in the northern dynasties and generalized the characteristic which are functional writing better and more flourish than literary writing. The second chapter described the characteristics of the prose in the northern dynasties by four periods which included PingCheng period,LuoYang period,YeCheng period,Chang'An period. PingCheng period is the beginning of ethnical and culture melting while the laconic and idyllic style is forming. LuoYang period is in the bloom of ethnical and cultural fustian while different lyricism forms included CiFu have developed quickly. ShuiJingZhu , which is the first representative achievement in the prose writing of the northern dynasties showed northern dynasties'scholars pragmatic literature .At Yecheng period ,the influence from the prose in the southern dynasties was shown and insulted the officialese rhythmic and classic. There are two magnum opus which are WeiShu , an official state history, and LuoYangQieLanJi, an introduction to the local place. Chang'An period, an imitation and transcendence period, comprised by three groups which belongs to the different places and times. The works written by YuXin and WangBao whom came from the south represented the highest achievement of literary writing in the northern dynasties. The prose writing from LuSiDao...
