Xu Ling, an outstanding writer who summarized the literature of the Southernand Northern Dynasty, is along with Yu Xin for his remarkable wording and consonantlyrics. Owning to joint efforts of Xu Ling and Yu Xin, the words of Southern Dynastyand the creative vigor of Northern Dynasty are gradually integrated, thereby laid thefoundation of poetry of the Tang Dynasty. To research and analysis the position andinfluence Xu ling played in promoting literary exchanges in Southern and NorthernDynasty is of essence.This paper can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter focuses on XuLings family background, political experience and his literary origins before he wentto the north. This chapter tries to research Xu Lings early literary thoughts and itsrelationships among Shen Yue and Ren Fang of the Yongming style. The second partand the third part analyze the relations between Xu Ling and scholars in the NorthernDynasty. First, we analyze the Yexia literary scholars group with their own literarycoterie. Summarize the members of the Yexia literary scholars group, their view ofliterature and relationships among Xu Ling and these scholars. Second, describe thefriendships among Xu Ling and these scholars. Started from the “cover for Mr.Wei”event, the relationships between Xu Ling and Wei Shou is analyzed by combining theliterary trend in Southern and Northern Dynasty, their similarities and differences inthe view of literature and magnificent significance and status in the literary history.The third chapter investigates the relationships among Xu Ling, Yang Yin, Pei Rang Zhiand Lu Ang. The relationship between Xu Ling and Yang Yin focus on the their letter“ALetter to the prime minister Yang Zunyan in Qi Dynasty”.Their relationship and thesignificance in the literary history are investigated via researching the backgroundand the reason why Yang Yin did not give Xu Ling an answer. Focused on their familyculture, the relationship between Xu Ling and Pei Rang Zhi is analyzed by combingthe cultural origin among Xu Ling and the Hedong Pei family. In the last, this chapteranalyzes the interrelationships between Xu Ling and Lu Ang about Jiaomiao poems.The forth chapter analyzes the view of literature after Xu Ling went South. First, it summarizes the relation between Xu Lings literary creation and political contend inSouthern and Northern Dynasty. Second, it analyzes the friendship among Xu Lingand the scholars in Northern Dynasty, such as Xu Ling and Li Chang、Li Yong Zhi、DuGao. Then, put the emphasis on “The Letter to Li Na”, and combine with theliterature which written by Xu Ling in his elderly age. Detailed reading his works, andexplain the changing of Xu’s literary dimension. Whether it has influences on thescholars in Northern Dynasty also will be the key point in the paper. Finally, give anin-depth analysis on the feature of Xu Ling’s works in his elderly age, and summarizethe innovation in Xu’s pomes. Analyzed the factor that whether it has influenced bythe culture of Northern Dynasty. Points will be given in these aspects: structure,meaning, theme, etc, and drive a macroscopically conclusion.
