On The Research Of Tao Hongjing

This thesis is a all-round research on Tao Hongjing. Based on the biographies and writings, firstly, this thesis studies Tao Hongjing's life, belief and viewpoints on the Three Teachings and researches on the founding and traits of Mao Shan Sect. Secondly, this thesis explains Taoist cultivable theories and methods of Tao Hongjing. Thirdly, on the basis of Tao Hongjing' poets and articles, the thesis introduces the literary achievement and spiritual pursuit of Tao Hongjing.This thesis has six chapters.Chapter one: This chapter inclouds two sections. One is to introduce Tao Hongjing's life, the background of knowledge and writings. The other is to discuss the relationship between Tao Hongjing and the Three Teachings and explains the reasons why he believed Taoism. Because of family education, Tao Hongjing had super ability and wide knowledge, which was the basis of his later achievements.In his times , the Three Teachings started to learn and absorb among them. Tao Hongjing had to deal with this situation. He not only wrote Confucian classics but also wanted to be a high-ranking official when he was young, which stated the relationship between he and Confucianism. Through he resigned later, he became a minister in the mountain. So Confucian thought had a great effect on him.
