The present dissertation is centered on the important issue, i.e., Marx's view on practice, and, as indicated in the subtitle, our study will be carried out from both the pros and cons of the view.Marx's thought of practice means an overall transcendence over the traditional philosophy, not only in its fundamental change in the object and content of the philosophical studies but also in its revolutionary breakthrough of the ontological mode of thinking. By focusing on the realistic world of life, Marx tried to seek a new route of understanding and grasping the human world, so as to find better ways to get rid of the realistic predicaments in which human beings are involved. Marx's thought of practice represents an open thinking mode dynamically facing the realistic life.To grasp Marx's thought of practice, its challenging nature needs to be made clear first. The main challenges to re-understanding his thought come from the historical development of Marxism in the 20th century, namely, the double pressures laid by the oriental orthodox Marxism and western Marxism, in which the trend of the ontologization of practice is increasingly obvious, circumspect and different in varieties. Thus, it is a necessary part of the present dissertation to point out the contradictory nature of the dual noumena in logic by exposing the thinking mode of reductionism and to show further the various demonstrations of ontological thinking mode. All these can't be achieved without the deep understanding of the transcending, breaking, and opening nature of Marx's thought of practice.Marx's thought of practice in itself is a breaking-off development of all the theories of practice in history, and a revolutionary reform in the sense of modern philosophy.
