"Pure Poetry" is a poetics topic of French symbolism. It uses "beauty" as its duty and fundamental element in order to look for a special kind of "sacrosanct beauty." On earlier stage, symbolistic poets drink in expressing "the supreme reality" through sense intuition—a perfect ideal world outside the reality. On later stage, Paul Valery thinks poetry should go toward "self expressing a special kind of thought to transcend one's own experience. "Pure Poetry" of symbolism puts more stress on the relation of words and phrases and ranks music as the most superior. It also believes that all creations have souls and poetry is used to express the mystery of lives. Actually, the spirit of "Pure Poetry" comes from the everlasting creation of aesthetic feeling. It has already existed in the original thinking when the consciousness of poetry first starts. As a pure ideal of arts, art factors of "Pure Poetry" are hidden in the art of Chinese poetry, but Chinese people don't name it. Due to function of "poetics education" from the Confucian school, "the purpose of pure arts" is frequently edged out by ethics and politics, so "it can not come to power in the academic circle." However, the attitude doesn't influence "Pure Poetry" to root in our "mind and spirit" in the cognitive world. The idea of Chinese Pure Poetry finds its own ethnically cultural memory via French symbolism, but it bothers by the theory from itself. Its original intention is to look for conformable needs for requests of modernity, not for the incredible "beauty" way, in order to find "poetry" from vernacular Neo-poetry. The anxiety it causes makes Chinese Pure Poetry have no symbolistic origins as "Pure Poetry" does. The advanced consciousness of arts inside the symbolistic "Pure Poetry" is luxurious, but, as a branch of poetry, it makes the concept of the beauty of arts release from traditional "perfection." Moreover, it drives Chinese Neo-poetry to move closely to more philosophic, religious, historical, psychological, thinking in order to build its own ideal state of arts and Pure Poetry consciousness. On the progress, many important poets and theorists draw beauty and life into Neo-poetry, such as Zhou Zuoren, Liang shiqiu, Zhu Ziqing, Shao Xunmei, Yu Gengyu, Zhu Weiji, Lu Zhiwei, Li Jinfa, Mu Mutian, Wen Yiduo, Xu Zhimo, Zhu Xiang, Rao Mengkan, Liang Zongdai, Dai Wangshu, Cao Baohua. He Qifang, Fei Ming, Lin Geng, Li Jianwu, etc. As to Shao Xunmei, he uses the modern aestheticism to participate the construction of Chinese Neo-poetry of "modernity of aesthetics."...
