Astrology Chinese Students Of Personality Psychology

Astrology includes two important parts: sun sign personality description and astrological forecast. In this paper, only sun sign personality description will be concerned. It has great influence on the students in China.First, this paper reviewed the studies done by western Psychologists on Astrology since the middle of 20th century. Second, using a questionnaire developed by the author, this study investigated the influence of Astrology on students in China. Especially, it investigated: (1) the deepness of the influence of Astrology on the Chinese students, (2) why students showed intrest in Astrology, (3) the way they got Astrological knowledge, (4) how much belief they had in Astrology, (5) does sex and grade differences have effect on the students' belief in Astrology. Third, by YG Personality Inventory, the relationship between sun sign and personality was confirmed. Besides, this study also tested two classical hypothesis: (1) natives of "odd" signs (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius) are likely to be extraverted while natives of "even" signs (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces) are likely to be introverted. (2) that people born under the so-called water signs would show greater emotionality and would thus have higher Neuroticism scores than the other Ss. Finally, a nature experiment was designed to confirm the influence of astrological knowledge, sex, personality on students' belief in Astrology.This study got several results listed below:(1) Girls show greater interests in Astrology than boys;(2) Junior high school students show greater interests in Astrology than senior high school students and undergraduates;(3) The relationship between sun sign and personality is People born under Aries are prone to less dumps, less inferiority, social extravertedly; People born under Taurus are prone to more dumps, thinking introvertedly; People born under Gemini are prone to more inferiority, more neuroticism; People born under Leo are prone to less dumps; People born under Virgin are prone to more aggressive People born under Libra are prone to social extravertedly; People born under Capricorn are prone to more subjective, low in general activity, social introvertedly; People born under Pisces are prone to less neuroticism(4) Natives of "odd" signs are more extraverted than natives of "even" signs(5) Compared with boys, astrological knowledge has greater influence on girls' belief in astrology;(6) knowledgable or not, Ss's belief in astrology does not correlate with the E P N score of EPQ...
