The study on the relations between language and culture has led the linguistics research not only beyond language forms but moreover to focus on the research of the past, the present and the future of a national culture through the language. Language has a close relation with culture, which shows that languages of different nations can not only reflect and record the culture patterns of different nations but also different culture patterns can restrict the language development to some degree and at some level.Viewing from a macro-perspective, human beings have almost the similar natural environments, living conditions, and also some similar social phenomenon, which have resulted in the commonness of the human culture. However, the human culture is also created in different social environments and natural environments that have formed different cultures belonging to different regions and different nations, that is to say, different culture patterns. Different culture patterns have some commonness to some degree and also the individuality relatively.Teaching Chinese as a foreign language is not only a kind of language teaching but also a kind of culture education. And learning Chinese as a foreign language is also a process during which the learners, who have already grasped their native language and formed a set of native culture ideas, have to study and accept the culture of the Chinese nation. The glossary has been the most positive and active part of the language system, which can reflect the social life vicissitude and national culture development directly and also function as the carrier of the culture among the language components. In this way, it is of vital importance to perform the culture lead-in in the form of glossary teaching, especially in Chinese, which has an innumerable number of glossaries with rich cultural connotation. The Cultural words and expressions always have their own deep connotation beyond the word meaning, which cannot be looked up in the dictionary and even often be ignored by language teachers or teaching material designers. Meanwhile, the culture word and expressions are hard to be grasped for the learners from different cultural backgrounds or lacking the corresponding cultural context knowledge.From the view of language teaching, the differences between the culture patterns, especially differences from learner's native culture, can have some effects on the understanding and using of the target language. And this kind of transformation will be of use to some degree in the cross-culture communication. Generally speaking, the positive transformation can greatly benefit the learners in understanding and using of the target language and also its culture, but the negative transformation can result in the misunderstanding and confliction.
