Color words is one of the most difficult and important point worthy of noting in foreign Chinese teaching,it is a small but special part of Chinese vocabulary which is intimately connected to Chinese culture. Because of the concrete expressions and diversified cultural connotation,color words could easily arouse the learning enthusiasm of Chinese learners.What’s more, it also embodies different pragmatic function.If used properly,color words can make the language more vivid and expressive,however,if used wrongly,it can also hinder effective communication and even cause jokes.This paper can be divided into four chapters:Chapter one generalizes the previous studies in the field of color words both at home and abroad,and try to find the own study perspective and value.Based on the former researches and applied linguistics、pragmatics、instructional psychology and other relative subjects,combining with practical teaching experiences, the paper defines “red、black、white、yellow、green、blue”as the Chinese basic color words.Chapter two makes a constructive analysis of the basic color words in terms of finding the cultural semantics between Chinese and English due to the teaching targets is native English speakers.There are both similarity and differences of the same color in English and Chinese,what’s more,the different color words also embody the similar meaning.Chapter three through seminar and questionnaire survey to explore the difficult for the native English speaker to learn Chinese color words.On the basis of data analysis,finding the error types and its reasons.Chapter four depends on the cultural teaching approaches,according to the actual situation of the students to design teaching outline and target.Through cultural element teaching 、 situational teaching 、 tourism culture teaching and game-teaching into the Chinese color words teaching, activating the teaching form to find the method of cross-cultural pragmatic values.Writer try to put the cultural teaching into the Chinesebasic color words in different situation and cultivate the learners’ cummunicative ability to achieve the goal of mastering Chinese basic color words.
