Wang Longxi, who is a well-known disciple of Master Wang Yangming, has made a great contribution to the School of Mind in Chinese history of philosophy. He drew fruitful ideas from Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism to develop his own theory. Subsequently, his philosophy was so sophisticated that scholars after him had heated debates about whether his philosophy was a natural extension of Wang Yangming's or rather he stretched Confucianism too far to be called Confucian any more. In other words, should he be looked upon as a great Confucian scholar or a non-conformist monk? Is his philosophy out of the orbit of Master Wang's teaching?
