Jin Zhengxi was a well-known scholar, calligrapher, and epigrapher in Joseon Dynasty, whose calligraphy style had a profound influence in South Korea. The descendants call his calligraphy as "Qiushi Style".His calligraphy was deeply influenced by the traditional clerical script, which pursues the beauty of ancient simplicity and uprightness.Being meticulous for his learning.Jin Zhengxi researched Sinology and epigraphy with the attitude of seeking truth from facts. At the age of 24,he went to China's Yanjing in Qing Dynasty with his father. He had a close exchange with some Confucianism during that period of time and established the lasting friendship with them, which deeply influenced Jin Zhengxi's thought of calligraphy. At that times, most of the inscriptions introduced into North Korea were duplicated and distorted,so Jin Zhengxi appealed for learning calligraphy with the correct path.He held in esteem to begin with the regular script in the Tang Dynasty, and advocated learning European calligraphic style and the inscriptions in the Northern Dynasties to trace the style of calligraphy in Jin Dynasty. He also pursued the elegance of the clerical script of the Han Dynasty in pursuit of the fragrance of the characters and the spirit of the book scroll.Although Jin Zhengxi's Calligraphy Ideology was "Worshiping the Ancient",his spirit of "learning from the ancient without the restriction from the ancient" had significant reference for the later generations to learn the art of calligraphy.
