"The stream of consciousness" could be regard as the epitome and the pioneer of the modernist for its emphasis and enhancement of the conception of "self as well as the nonobjective quality in the narrative pattern. When "The stream of consciousness" was flourishing, the Chinese contemporary literature was rising. The Chinese modern literary world was a very on-limits world, some of the scholars who lived in that times accepted "The stream of consciousness" through the way of translating and introducing as well as using for reference in Chinese fictions. The most important authors, include Joyce James, Woolf Virginia, Faulkner William had left their footprints on the Chinese modern literary world. At the same time, the Chinese modern scholars who want to seek the literary modernity had made the Chinese writing rich and colorful through the use for reference, not only in the writing thoughts but also in the writing skills. At the aspect of translating and introducing, abundant historical materials had proved the Chinese modern literary world was a very on-limits world and the historical materials about the translating and introducing of "The stream of consciousness" were not fragmentary as some contemporary commentators said. But after the detailed analyses, the readers will find a strong tendency about the viewpoint of translating and introducing in Chinese modern literary world. This viewpoint is a kind of pragmatic standpoint to confirm the fancy skills of "The stream of consciousness" and to animadvert on the thought of it. At the aspect of the use for reference on the writing, faced the Chinese society crisis, although in the thirty years, from 1919 to 1949, many Chinese modern authors had used the skills of "The stream of consciousness" in their fictions, there was not one real fiction of "The stream of consciousness" which appeared in the Chinese modern literary world.
