The thesis examines the phonetic materials about the literature of Chu dialect region in Qin and Han dynasty, and describes them in detail from three parts: the tone, the rime category and the consonant.The thesis is composed of four parts:Partâ… is an introduction mainly about the designation of Chu dialect region in Qin and Han dynasty, the definition of the literature in the dialect region, the problem and the current situation of Chu dialect phonology, the meaning of study about Chu dialect phonology. Derivations of materials and research ways of the thesis are also introduced in this part.Partâ…¡is aout the tone. We examine the tone about the literature of Chu dialect region in Qin and Han dynasty. Statistical figures indicate that there are four tones in the riming practices of the literature, the four tones are the level tone, the rising tone, the falling tone and the rapid tone. Both feminine rhyme and masculine thyme have three tones, the three tones are the level tone, the rising tone and the falling tone. The merging of Chang ru and the falling tone is not synchronic in different rime category. The merging of Chang ru and the falling tone is not a sudden change. The relations between Chang ru and the falling tone or Duan ru have a marked change. It express in a focalized way that the relation between Chang ru and Duan ru has been gradually distant, finally Chang ru changes into the falling tone.Partâ…¢is about the rime category. We make an thorough description of the phonetic material in the literature of Chu dialect region in Qin and Han dynasty. The thesis makes a research on the problem of He Yun about the Yu category with the Hou category, the Dong category with the Dong category, the Zhi category with the Ge category, the You category with the Xiao category, the Zhi category with the Wei category. The thesis gets initial results as the follows: First, part of the Hou category merges into the Yu category. Second, the He Yun about the Dong category with the Dong category have the color of Chu. Third, the He Yun about the Ge category with the Zhi category also has the color of Chu. The He Yun about the You category with the Xiao category has a bearing on dialect phonetics, and carries the color of Chu. Forth, the He Yun about the Zhi category with the Wei category emerges in dialect, the dialect groups of Chu and Qin-Jin are the most prominent.Partâ…£is about the initial consonant. We discuss some problems about initial consonant. In this part, we describe them as a whole, then we have a preliminary probe into some problems such as voiceless nasal sounds, voiced initial consonants, velars and consonant combinations etc.
