This article is on City Historical Geography of Bengbu and its relativecontents has conducted the research and the discussion. The contents of the article on the city of Bengbu include its foundation of Historical Geography for its emerging, the interacting relation between the formation and the development of modern-contemporary city and the geographical environment, the space shape development and evolution of modem -contemporary city and the summary of modern-contemporary urbanization rules.The first chapter elaborated on the process of both banks of Huaihe Rive --Small Bengbu's and the Old Bengbu's rise and decline before the railroad opening, and on this foundation, the article analyzed the physical geography and human geography reason which emerged in the historical period of the historic town Bengbu.The second chapter recovered the process of formation and development of the Bengbu with the full and accurate material since the construction of Jin-Pu Railroad, and, on this foundation, it analyzed the affection of the geographical environment factor on this process. The analyse showed that Jin-Pu Railroad's opening provided a good chance for the city of Bengbu, but what truly accelerated Bengbu to emerge is the establishment of the key status of the transfer station -the collection and distribution center in the northern part of Anhui. For the above, the transportation superiority was transformed as the market superiority, the city business developed, and the population accumulated. The influence of the political geography factor to the city also cannot be neglected in this time. During the period of the Republic of China, urban function of Bengbu was enhanced and its influence mainly had the municipal construction development as well as the impetus to the urban business development. Huaihe River is a double-edged sword, on the one hand constitutes the Bengbu key position status essential element. On the one hand, Huaihe is the necessary element to the status of the transfer station. On the other hand, Huaihe River's flood becomes the biggest threat to the urban development of Bengbu.The third chapter was the extension of the esecond chapter. It elaborated that the urban developing process of Bengbu, summarized the urban development characteristic, and analyzed the influence of geographical environment factor to the development of Bengbu during the planned economy times. The analyses showed that, for the historical inheritance, as the northern key city of Anhui, Bengbu accepted coastal radiation by using the transportation convenience and the superior natural resource. Though its administrative status dropped, Bengbu maintained its status at Anhui Province's economic status.The fourth chapter carried on the recovery work about the modem urban spatial plan of Bengbu, determined or basically determined the concrete positions of each urban special factor. Through the analysis, the understanding to constitution of the interior spatial structure and development evolution of the modem -contemporary city of Bengbu was clear. The analysis thought that the each function area of modem Bengbu did not form yet, but there was a phenomenon that various spatial factors accumulated relatively and also had its own characteristics and reasons.The fifth chapter was the extension of the fourth chapter. By using the map and urban planning drawing since the founding of the nation city, this chapter analyzed the forming processes, the developing reasons and the distributed characteristics of the each function area of the city.The sixth and seventh chapter, from the population accumulation and the change of population quantity and structure, studied the urbanization power of the modem-contemporary Bengbu, the urbanization which performed in the urban life and the influence of urbanization to the city...
