Since the 1980th, with the social transformation, there appear many new problems in the process of the development of temple. The rise of tourist economy from Buddhist culture has produced profound effect on the development of temple in an all round way. Temple and its tourist economy from Buddhist culture have been the heated topics in the field of religion, economy and social development, which has attracted great attention of people from all walks of life. Restricted by objective and subjective factors, few scholars study it, even less from the perspective of sociology.Based on the empirical research and the data collected of a temple at a village in the central and southern area of China, the paper develops around an essential problem——why are there interacted conflict in the developing process of temple and its tourist economy from Buddhist culture? Its theme is defined from two aspects: one is to describe the three periods of development of B temple, namely the restoration period from bottom to up and the reverse as well as the development period of the temple itself. The other is to analyze the periodical features of B temple under the analyzed frame of embeddedness, namely to find out the reasons underlain the weak authority of religion organization, the weak enforcement of policies and the indefinite property right so as to figure out the internal mechanism of interacted conflict. The paper contains five charters as following:Charter 1: It is the introduction dealing with the theories and documents relative to the theme at home and abroad, the logic and reasons for the research. It also explains the embeddedness theory and its application in the paper. Then it shows its analyzed frame. Besides, the object of research, research methods, the value of research and the choice of case are also defined in this charter to lay the foundation for the following narration and discussion.Charter 2: It discusses the weak authority of religion during the period of restoration of B temple from bottom to up (from the Cultural Revolution to 1978), which makes difficult for the temple to keep strong and normal strain with local rights, thus leading to interacted conflict. Finally it discusses the origin of the weak authority from the perspective of embeddedness.Charter 3: It first describes the abnormal behavior of HL community during the period of restoration from bottom to up, then it deals with the policies made by L county during the period of restoration from up to bottom (from 1987 to 1993), and then discusses the weak enforcement of these policies and its effect on B temple, tourist economy from Buddhist culture and HL community. Finally it analyzes the internal logic for such phenomenon from the perspective of embeddedness.Charter4: It argues that the biggest problem is the indefinite property right of B temple which can not be avoided during the developing period of its own (from 1993 on). It describes and analyzes the dispute over property right between the temple and villagers, the tourist company and the temple. Finally, it analyzes the internal mechanism of such problem from the perspective of embeddedness.Charter 5: It is the conclusion and discussion. It is also the summing-up and abstraction of the research. Based on the above discussion and narration, it sums up the discoveries of the research and conducts discussion on relative problems. Finally it makes a review about the whole research and puts forward some tentative plans for future's efforts. There are some new points in the paper: first, the existing research mainly focuses on the field of history and culture, less studies it from the perspective of sociology. So it is, to some degree, an explorative research. Second, it makes a comparative research on the relative problems about the Buddhism in the mainland and Taiwan. By doing so, it concludes some new explanations. Third, from the perspective of sociology, it examines the relationship between the community culture, community transformation as well as the operation of the right of villages and towns and the temple and its tourist economy from BUddhist culture.
