Homi K. Bhabha is one of the most important postcolonial theorists, whose theory has attracted the interest of scholars as well as politicians. Homi K. Bhabha bases his theory mainly on the study of fictions, poems, dramas, films, and artworks. He is an author of Artforum, which is an influential art journal. As a creative theorist, he has developed a lot of concepts and ideas, which could de-structure the theoretical bases of colonialism and open new possibilities for postcolonial study.The boom of contemporary art of pre-colonies is an eminent phenomenon of our times. As the artworks and artists from these areas attracting more and more attention around the world, the co-existence of cultures is becoming one of the most controversial issues nowadays. The study and criticism of the issue are based mostly on postcolonial theories.This dissertation focuses on Homi K. Bhabha's postcolonial theory, and tries to deal with the historical processes of the art of pre-colonies. Based on this historical study, the relationships between the colonial histories and processes of the art would be made clear. The study would also reveal the basic theories and logics of cultural colonial history, so that we could understand the contemporary art from those areas better.
