Thought Philosophy Culture

Richard Rorty is the most successful heir of the American pragmatism tradition and one of the important representatives of Postmodernism in the late 20th. Rorty spurns the ideas that include human beings think of taking everything as the first principle and the delusive purpose of seeking for natural grade order and questions essentialism, fundamentalism and logoscentrism of traditional philosophy, which makes people lose courage widely to the essence of mirror-metaphor and doubts about all the legal groundwork. So as to tend towards cultural thinking of historical realism and this gradually makes an agreement about the ambit of"post-philosophical culture". This paper begins with Rorty's criticism on traditional philosophy. And Rorty's post-philosophical culture is taken in the view of modern western culture crisis. Post-philosophical culture's three theory sources, which are pragmatism tradition, Heidegger's and Wittgenstein's later philosophy, are made a systemic research and whole analysis. On the basis of that, three philosophical features of post-philosophical culture, which are respectively anti-essentialism, anti-fundamentalism and ethnocentrism, are summed up. Then post-philosophical culture's understanding and thinking towards philosophy and future culture is excavated, so does inspiration which we selected culture's vaule and learned from the Marxist philosophy. Rorty is opposed to the view that philosophy is seen as science's capitalized philosophy. Meanwhile, Rorty advocates the small letter philosophy, whose core is tolerant conversation; and thinks about the profound crisis of current worldwide culture, which is based on the puzzledom of post-philosophy; then begins to design its new cultural prospect. However, Rorty's post-philosophical culture attempts to cultivate a new way, which is used to communicate between Britain-US analytic philosophy and Continental European philosophy, to solve the puzzledom of western philosophy, rather than aiming to eliminate philosophy. It not only designs a new self-image for future western philosophy and western culture, but also indicates a new way for the development of human beings'culture.
