Xian-Fu is widely existed in all stages of the evolution and development of ancient Chinese characters, especially in the Chu-Dynasty Bamboo slips of Warring States, Xian-Fu is more prevalent, not only appears in large quantities, but also in more frequency; and the varieties have been increased. However, in a very long historical period, the researchers believe that every stroke and side of Chinese characters is directly or indirectly involved with the sound and meaning noted by every character, so many words' configuration has often been distorted or mistaken, such as the word "示". In the past, the study related to Xian-fu initiated at the latest time, although the recent research has made some achievements, the theory of Xian-Fu still lags behind; not only the diversity of definition, such as decorated stroke, superfluous stroke, Xian paintings, decorative symbols, Xian-Fu and so on, but also on its nature and the object of study, they haven't come to an agreement and haven't effective standards on the classification of Xian-Fu.Since 2001, Shanghai Museum have collated and published a series of "Shanghai Museum bamboo book" from 1 to 7. In this paper, based on the forefathers' results, and integrated with other known ancient character materials, such as oracle bone inscriptions, bronze inscriptions, the Warring States text, especially the Chu text of Warring States, we will put an emphasis on the Chu-Dynasty Bamboo slips of Warring States collected by Shanghai Museum, and do collate and research into the Xian-Fu in it.The dissertation is consisted of seven parts. First of all, we put a detailed analysis and explanation on the situation of different hands, who transcribed the Shanghai Museum bamboo book may use different Xian-Fu, on which basis, we make a correlative analysis on the arisen cause of Xian-Fu. The Xian-Fu should be a complex phenomenon of characters prevalent in hand-written customs body, especially in the Warring States, when have no orthographic to constraint, is particularly frequent. In modern standard Chinese characters, there is no strict Xian-Fu in sense.ChapterⅣ, according to different standards, we will make a classification for the Xian-Fu. In this paper, firstly, from a historical perspective, we will divide it into historic and synchronic. The Xian-Fu can not be considered as the historic one in the strict sense, while the synchronic one will be the important object in the dissertation. Besides, this article also divide it into Xian-side and Xian-stroke two major categories from the external form of the Xian-Fu, which is the previous classification criteria; and according to their location, as for those more frequent emergence of Xian-stroke, we also make a small division.
