"declared Body" And Flowers And Birds Of The Northern Song Court And Poetry Study

The disputation around the relationship between Chinese painting and poem has being focused on the literati painting for a long time. On the contrary, the attention on the court painting is far less.However, by studying both the development of court flower-and-bird painting and the interpretation of scholars on poem-painting relationship in Song Dynasty, we find that the court flower-and-bird painting was developed by refining painting with poetical spirit. What's more, in the "Xuanhe style" period which was shaped by the emperor Song Huizong, the theory of poem-painting relationship which was advocated by scholars was brought into practice by court flower-and-bird painters, and this situation could be proved by the mainstream of painting in that time, including art theory, practice, and institution. The practice of poem-painting relationship in "Xuanhe style" flower-and-bird painting has brought the theory to a new boundary, and placed more possibilities in the light. "Xuanhe style" has erected a good example in this field.For the development of poem-painting relationship, "Xuanhe style" was very important. It inherited the heritage of forerunners, and cleared the way for the future age. It has played a key role in the period between the proposing of "poem as painting" theory by Su Shi and the mature of this theory in Yuan Dynasty.This dissertation, which is based on the studies of this topic hitherto, would analyze the relationship between the "Xuanhe style" and poem otherwise. It would focus on the process of the shaping of poem-painting relationship theory, and take the academic books, paintings and art institution in Song Huizong Period as main material. The dissertation would try to find the role of "Xuanhe style" in the development of poem-painting relationship theory, and give it a right evaluation. Furthermore, the dissertation would try to interpret the influence of poem-painting relationship theory to the flower-and-bird painting, and to give a personal thinking upon the situation of flower-and-bird painting in our time.
