The Research On Chinese Literature In Taiwan, Hongkong And Macau In The View Of Academic History

This dissertation is a research of academic history, with the commentary in terms of academic history. From the point of view of academic history, this dissertation sorts out and comments on the main academic issues and the traits of the development in the research of Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, and focuses on the history of subject development. The national annual convention and the international symposium brings about development of the subject of Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, that is, the subject exists and grows with the convention, which is typical of the subject. Therefore,'subject and the activities related'should be the main part of World Chinese Literature research. By relating subject development to subject issues, leading research results and the case study of scholars, this paper adopts the research methods of academic history.The holding of international symposiums indicates the different stages of the research on Chinese Literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, even overseas, which shows the relatively interdependent feature of the subject. The development from'Literature in Taiwan and Hongkong', to 'Literature in Taiwan, Hongkong, Macau and Oversea'and then to'World Chinese Literature'reveals in the developmental pattern the historical traits of the emerge of the subject and the forming of subject conception. To measure in terms of the requirement of subject development, the subject and concept defining, the development, the disputes and clarification of the definition display the establishment of a new academic concept and standardization. The development of a subject is that of the research fields, and the renewing of methods and concept. This paper, by looking into the establishment of the literature subject, the research onto the important works and leading scholars, intends to disclose the significance of the research on Chinese Literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, even oversea:in Mainland China, the research displays a special research field in Chinese Literature and the value of World Chinese Literature as a worldwide literature, and thus promotes directly and indirectly the development of all the subjects related to Chinese Literature.Literature Taiwen, Novel Hongkong and Of BoundaryUnderstanding---Commentary on Macau Literature, among the achievement of research on Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, and even oversea in the past 30 years, differ from the traditional works of literature history in terms of knowledge system and research methods. They are different in narration methods and ways of understanding. The similarity they share is the narration in space of literature history with the element of time dimly visible time, the center of the narration of literature history being various'breakthrough'rather than the 'starting point'of time in tradition, leading to different routs of narration, which can be regarded as the leading and outstanding representative.Rao Pengzi and Liu Denghan are the director and vice-director of World Chinese Literature, and the leading scholars in this field as well. Although they are not the pioneers, they have been involved in the research on Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, even oversea at the early stage, and exerted their efforts in the development of subject research and construction. The two leading scholars have made great contribution in the study of Chinese literature in Taiwan, Hongkong and Macau, as well as oversea Chinese literature, with the great amount of works and their own special methods in the academic research. Moreover, they have set up their own field of research and principles in talent education, helped to cultivate a great many of young scholars, and formed a capable research team. Their distinctive theories have promoted the development of the subject research and they are unique in academic history.
