?This paper is to provide a new interpretation of Chuang-tzu Therefore, for such an attempt is based on the study of Chuang-tzu in twentieth century in china which is the process of china thought of modernization. The basic characteristics of this transition are the westernized-style reformation. This approach is a historical trend caused by the modern Chinese. However, it is also the reason of the loss of Chinese identity. How to dealing with the requiement both the modernity and the nature of Chinese demand is the fundamental issue of contemporary classical interpretation. This paper was in this context, in order to Chuang-tzu target to start such an interpretation work.This paper is divided into four parts, the introduction, part one, the part on next and the conclusion. Introduction describes the basic situation of Chuang-tzu studies and proposed purpose of this paper and the basic method.Part one is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is in the context of influence that Confucius and Lao Zi impacted on Chuang-tzu. Confucius's influence is reflected in two idears: Heaven and inner world. Lao Zi'influence is reflected on the impact of the critique of civilization. Chuang-tzu was not satisfied with Confucius who was too secular, and indulge in LaoI'Dao complex. Chapter II looks at the question and methods of Chuang-tzu. Chuang-tzu is not only absorbed their predecessors, he also had a unique insight, that is, the conflicting realty among the multiple values, it is the thesis of "Equality of Things" that discuss the nature of each other's right and wrong. Chuang-tzu's inner way of transcending is to face this problem, and it open up a new world of existence. The third chapter describes the problems in Chuang-tzu'thought. First, Chuang-tzu can not escape the fatalism accusations. The fourth chapter discusses the issues come from Zhuagnzi'students.The next part also divided into four chapters. Chapter V talks over the similarities and differences between Chuang-tzu and Kuo's description. That Chuang-tzu is a searcher for outside thinkers within the heart, while Guo Xiang is on the Chuang-tzu's model of the transformation, be sure there are multiple beings, and then affirmed the necessary of civilization. Guo Xiang's interpretation constitutes a major shaping for the image of Chuang-tzu. Chapter V is in order to compare the Chuang-tzu'idear of Dao and the Guo Xiang's theory of original harmony, then discuss similarities and differences between the two. In general, Guo Xiang was advancing a theory of ontological realm on the way to fix shortcomings of Chuang-tzu. Chapter VI was the comparation of ethical concept of Chuang-tzu and Guo Xiang. Chuang-tzu's ethics is the saint man, while Guo Xiang explanded it, all the people are taken into account. Chuang and Guo Xiang discussed in Chapter VII of the political and historical concepts. Chuang-tzu is essentially a thinker of political disappoint, he refused to recognize the political possibility. Guo Xiang was trying to learn the basic ideas in the village, the solution to this confusion. He signs the history ontology and history is divided into two parts, the deeper one and the surface one.By this way Guo make a balance between Confucianism and Chuang-tzu.According to Chuang-tzu's thought, the conclusion pointed out thatZhaungzi'thought not only has the basic characteristics of Chinese thought, also has its own unique insights.
