The translation of Chinese classics into English is a branch of translation study and aims to translate the Chinese classics into English. The translation and spreading of Chinese classics in the western countries are improved in terms of both quantity and quality. At the same time, unprecedented development has also happened to the criticism on the translation of Chinese classics, to which many theories of translation criticism are applied. Translators of the new and old generations have proposed some applicable translation principles according to the special features of the translation of Chinese classics. It thus can be seen that great achievements have been made in qualitative study of the translation of Chinese classics into English, but a combination of the qualitative and quantitative approaches will render the criticism more scientific, fair and objective.Based on the DTS theory, this study puts forward the theoretical framework of DTS criticism and constructs the bilingual domain Ontology of the translation of Chinese classics to English so as to combine the qualitative and quantitative approaches and render the criticism more scientific and objective. The Ontology takes the culture-loaded words as the individuals and displays the quantitative information about the translator, translation and master copy by various properties. At the same time, the qualitative standards of the criticism are demonstrated in the annotation value, which can be taken by the critics as the reference for the DTS criticism.First, this study clarifies the definition, classification and structure of the translation of Chinese classics to English, classifies the Chinese classics according to the "classics, history, philosophy and belles-letters books" and the English translation according to the modern stylistic principle and then constructs the bilingual Ontology. Second, the subject, object and criteria of the criticism of the English translation of Chinese classics are obtained by studying the basic elements and perspectives of translation criticism and then the bilingual domain Ontology is constructed. Third, the Protege editing tool is used in the later stage of the construction and finally the domain ontology is created after the manual revision. Fourth, the matching capacity of the regular expressions is employed to extract the culture-loaded words and their correspondent English translations from the existing document of the English translation of the Chinese classics. The bilingual concept pairs are used to enrich and enlarge the concept collection in the ontological model. In the process of extracting the culture-loaded words, the simplified regular expressions are written to increase the efficiency and the regular expression generator is designed to decrease the difficulty.Fifth, the bilingual domain Ontology is applied to the DTS criticism of Tao Teh King. The Ontology takes the culture-loaded words in Tao Teh King as individuals, to which the properties are assigned. Such information as the purpose of the translator and the translation methods is displayed so as to provide criteria for the quantitative and applicable criticism of the English translation of Chinese classics. The professional knowledge in the fields of the English translation of Chinese classics and the translation criticism lays the foundation for this study and the DTS theory provides a new perspective. The construction of culture-loaded-term-based bilingual domain ontology of criticism on English translation of Chinese classics intends to provide a new criterion for the criticism of the English translation of Chinese classics with the hope of criticizing the different translations of the same classic objectively, scientifically and descriptively.
