The rapid advancements in Internet technologies and the subsequent proliferation of economic activity on the Internet (E-business) have removed the constraints of geography, time and space, and thereby bring about a paradigm shift for enterprises.Recently, the concept of supply chain management (SCM) is attracting substantive interests in both academic research and practice because that e-business is digitally connecting the entire world into one big (global) network of supply chains, where the customer, manufacturer, supplier and other business entities seamlessly linked together throughout the world.Currently, the use of the Internet in SCM is rapidly increasing, and our views about supply chain is being redefined. So the dissertation endeavors to identify, probe and develop new theories and tools that will work in digital time in SCM area by systematic studies.The structure of the dissertation is as follows: Chapter 1: the research backgroundThis section mainly deals with the understanding on former research and the synthesis on SCM research.Firstly, the research framework of E-business is studied from managerial as well as technological perspective. Secondly, the former and ongoing researches on SCM are summarized from management and information science interdisciplinary perspective to provide a outlook on SCM theory and methodology. Chapter 2: the study of e-marketspace and its economic activity analysis This section deals with the influence of the ongoing information revolution on how economic value is created and extracted in the market, which provides an foundation to study how supply chain and its management are changing and operating when the market a shift from marketplace to e-maketspace.The section analyzes some business models to identify how value is created in e-maketspace, especially value system integration, which is the most advanced web-based business model, to illustrate the importance of supply chain management to share real-time information and interact synchronically, to create value in a collaborative way.Chapter 3: the investigation into key changes and characters of SCM in E-BusinessThis section is the main research work of the dissertation and illustrates in three perspectives of the changes and characters of SCM: structure, relationship, and operations respectively.Firstly, the concise, dynamic, rapid reconfigurable Supply Chain Structure makes sense and prevail in marketspace.This part explains in e-marketspace the structure of SCM is being compressed, and become more concise by the influences of E-business on the traditional tools(intra-enterprise, inter-enterprises, sales agent, and direct models). I addition, By analyzing the value net supported by internet technology to explain enable the supply chain become a dynamic and adaptive network.Secondly, the integrated management of the functions of supply-demand relationshipsThis part show how the relation among supply chain and the system functions can bemanaged in a integrated Way, overcome the separate method to manage supply anddemand relationship, combine the two sides and fuse them to quickly respond to andsatisfy the increasing personalized customers needs.Thirdly, the synchronically collaborative planning and operating among all SCMparticipants' operationThis part compares the operations of traditional supply chain with the new one inE-business, and illustrates how technologies support the synchronically collaborativesupply chain and its management system and detailed processes.Chapter 4: the study of the supply chain management in E-BusinessFirstly, the main research works that carried out by using intelligent agent technologyare reviewed, which demonstrate that their drawback and deficiencies in effectiveSCM in E-commerce.Secondly, the followed discussion is about the theoretical fundamentals and practicalbackgrounds of the supply chain management and coordination that centered aroundthe value broker from the managerial and organizational persp...
