As it is known, the Integrated Circuit (IC) industry of China introduced several generations of equipments and technology from foreign countries but keeps on lagging behind, which we call "introducing trap". In this paper, we discuss the reason of the trap in different levels. In the microcosmic level, our research focus on the quality learning activity of the IC manufacturers; in the macroscopic level, our research include the technical unit evolution of IC industry, the development opportunities in the evolution, the government's roles in the development, etc. The research also deals with the relationship between IC industry and relevant material and equipment industry. The main ideas of this dissertation are as following:Chapter one focuses on the importance of the research and relevant backgrounds.Chapter two describes the history of our IC industry and the status in quo of the industry. Our research in this chapter focuses on IC manufacturing, IC design, IC packaging, as well as material and equipment sectors separately.Chapter three is about the learning activity of our IC manufacturers. In this chapter, we use regression to get the quality learning curve of the IC manufacturers, which is mainly reverse S type. Later, our research turn to the main reason of the reverse S type quality learning curve, which we call induced investment. The last part of this chapter describes the tendency of induced investment in China's IC manufacturing companies and predicts that since newly-built IC manufacturing companies have much stronger tendency in strengthen induced investment, they will get out of the reverse S type learning curve at first.Chapter four is about the evolution of technical unit of China's IC industry. The research result shows that technical unit of IC industry in the world is now getting larger gradually, while technical unit of China's IC industry is getting larger leapingly. At the same time, the technical unit of IC industry is also splitting. Considering the design capacity, China need at least 20 design companies to cooperate with one fab.Chapter five first describes the environment difference in capital, technology transfer, human resource and market in USA, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. Later in this chapter, we focus on the government's roles in developing China's IC industry, which including programming, organizing the research on core technology and the building up of the capital, technology transfer, human resource and market environment which are helpful for the development of IC industry.Chapter six describes the relationship between material, equipment and IC industry, andbased on the relationship, we build up a system dynamic model.Chapter seven makes use of the model built up in chapter six and simulates the development of the system under different investment program. The chapter also refer to the importance of developing equipment sector for IC industry, especially when the time needed for building up IC fabs is relevant to the market share of national equipment producers. In the last chapter of the dissertation, the research is summarized and some important conclusions follow the next. The author explicates some developing aspects in the field of IC industry as suggested areas of future work. The original points of this dissertation are as following:1.In this dissertation, we got the quality learning curve of China's IC manufacturers by regression. On the base of questionnaire, we later explained the reason of the reverse S type quality learning curve and the tendency of change in quality learning curve.2.The evolution of technical unit of China's IC industry is calculated in this dissertation. We also explained the reason of technical unit splitting in the way of economic and technology.3.In this dissertation, we described the environment difference in capital, technology transfer, human resource and market in USA, Japan, Korea. Taiwan and China, and gave some suggestions on the government's ro...
