Economic Analysis Of Contemporary Technological Innovation

IAt the time of the transition to a new millennium, the technological revolution and the scientific and technological innovation featured in the development of information technology has become the base for the development of the current economy, and it is now accelerating the economic growth and the improvement of people's welfare. We will be rejoiced as the economic aspects of our country, including the transformation of the system, structure readjustment, gradual evolution and step-by-step ascending, are all at its critical state. Their simultaneous starting signifies the coming of a new opportunity for the economic development in China. But at this time, only few economists are concerned with the contemporary technological innovation, particularly the generating mechanism and the essential function of the technological innovation of the present time. This Ph.D. dissertation is just an exploration and attempt into such a subject.IIThe thesis begins from the probe into the essence and the trend of its development of the present information technology economy, making a research on the present technological innovation with a theoretical analysis of the leap-style development in China as its goal. Concerning on theses questions, the paper is structured into introduction and six chapters.The part of introduction gives an account of the cause of the thesis, the method and the approaches used in the research and also the conceptual framework. It also discusses and defines the relevant conceptions and their connotation and a conclusion is drawn that the technological innovation is a conception with a rather broad connotation. The technological innovation means that with a purpose of gaining the maximum profit, the whole market tries to set up a more effective, more efficient and less costly production system by the reformation and transferring of the productive elements.In Chapter 1, by recalling and brief commenting of the history of the technological innovation theory, the author makes an analysis of the economists' recognition of the reason why " technological innovation is so important to the economic growth and economic circle", and also points out some flaws in the relevant literature.In Chapter 2-4, the author tries to elaborate on " how present technological innovation plays its important role".In Chapter 2, the author tries to reveal the new developing features of the contemporary technological innovation represented by information technology. By making a comparison with the changes in tech-economic paradigm occur in the past, the chapter mainly explains the special characters of the information technology as material resources and the information as economic resources. In Chapter 3, the necessary condition of the economic mechanism for the transformation of information technology to wealth, and the subsequent economical effect is discussed. A conclusion is drawn that current technological innovation has a nature of knowledge product. It needs an economic mechanism for market, capital and property before it can bring about any wealth.In Chapter 4, a deep discussion is made about the realization of reformation of the differentbodies through the capital operation in the national economic system in the condition of the current tech-novation and market economy. And a detailed analysis of the mechanism for the integration of information and capital to realize its value, the information allocation, transmission and shifting in the venture capital investment, and the knowledge resources allocation relations among the main bodies of the innovation system in the production, transferring and application, is made in this chapter.In Chapter 5, the author tries to deal with the question of "does the current technological innovation play its important role".
