The Enterprises,as cells of economy,always try to adapt to uncertainty of environment for surviving and developing,since global economy have been rapidly changing. The growth of enterprises usually appears some phasic characteristics,similar to life organism. A new phase is proceeded with the breakthrough of an old phase. Corporate diversification strategy was conceived just to breaking the growing limits of specialization,and seeking new profit space.The dissertation started with expounding the origins of business diversification thoughts and theories,the history of business diversification,and investigation of Chinese corporate leaders' cognition on business diversification,the conception of diversification was explained,and the research framework of mechanism and modes of business diversification were put forward in Chapter 1.Relatedness was analyzed between effectiveness of business diversification and corporate growth in Chapter 2,and the idea of leaders' competency-based business diversification was formed. It's hold that leader's competency is the niche of diversification effectiveness,and logical evolution of former theories,such as strategic environment theory,industry competition theory,resource-based theory and cognition interaction theory. Which established the theoretical and practical basis of researches on mechanism and modes of business diversification.Business diversification strategy begins with decision. Business diversification decision maybe based on existed advantages differed from that of pure start-up enterprise. The ideas of decision come into being with quite contingency,which was researched stressfully in Chapter 3,the mechanism of leaders' flexible confirmation to critical strategic factors were analyzed,and the decision modes was brought forward based on a representative case.The entry modes of diversification include self-determining development and acquisition;the choice of modes is determined by comparison of present value between the two. Core competency is not the basis of choosing the mode,but new business developing,and which mechanism were analyzed in Chapter 4;the characteristics and improving approaches of new business development of diversification in China's economy transition were researched,all of those built research groundwork of two entry modes.In case of investigation of corporate leaders' cognition on diversification (in Chapter 1),the self-determining development conditions of diversification were discussed,and members of leaders' team selection,strategic emphases,strategic domination,and organization and process designing were explored in Chapter 4.In Chapter 5,the conditions of strategic M & A were analyzed,the integration management system and modes of post-acquisition were constituted,some integrating stresses were discussed,and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation System was erected for appraising strategic integration effectiveness.Corporate diversification runs in order to hunt for co-prosperity among businesses and environment,which is supported by some organic structure. Theapproaches,pattern,and strategic emphases of combination among businesses were analyzed;sustainable advantages of combination were explored in Chapter 6. The inducement of diversification restructure was analyzed,and the mechanism and modes of corporate restructure were explored on the basis of cases analysis. An optimization mode with entropy coefficients for diversification intensive running was proposed and applied to a diversification decision problem.Effective diversification is determined by efficient leading. In Chapter 6,the mechanism and modes of leaders' guiding and teamwork building were researched,and the nerves net model with strategic control and balance,strategic incentive,and knowledge management was explored,which deduct the related system between leaders' function and leaders' competency on diversification effectiveness.Based above,Chinese listed corporation are focused on for quality research,the relationship between leaders' competency-based...
