Since China entered the modern society, on the one hand, the semi -colonial and semi - feudal extent of the Chinese society was deepening gradually; on the other hand, the consciousness of Chinese people against imperialist, feudal and bureaucratic capitalist was strengthening increasingly. On how to cast off the national crisis and transform the old China, the course of history has made clear to all of us: If we want to reform the old China and rejuvenate China, we must win the victory over the imperialist, feudal and the bureaucratic capitalist. In order to achieve this, the reform of the peasants' consciousness must be carried out, which is the key question to the Chinese revolution. At the beginning of the 20th century, the trend of thought in the reform of the national character became a fashion of the social reform at that time. Hie Reformatory group, the Revolutionary group and the New Cultured men had their limitations in class and thoughts, so they couldn' t find a way to reform our national character and find an ideological weapon suitable for the Chinese conditions. Trie Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members represented by Mao Zedong used Marxism - Leninism as a theoretical weapon, assimilated it critically, carried out a reform practice among peasants with the nature of new democracy, and answered the Question of the countrymen' s reform from the point of view of Marxism.Trie reform of peasants advocated by Mao Zedong is guided by the out-look of value, life and the world of the proletariat. Under the guidance of the Party, through the education and inculcation of the peasants, through the increase of the national, class and political consciousness of the peasants, and by depending on the medium of consciousness and mobilizing the peasants to revolt, the reform of peasants can be carried out and the inferior character can be broken with and the superior character can be kept and developed in the revolution.Tnis research centers on Mao Zedong s thoughts on the reform of the peasants, and makes an initial analysis about its object, basis, way, link and significance so as to come to the following conclusion: only through the new democratic reform of the peasants can the Chinese democratic revolution win success; only when the peasants join in the great new - democratic revolutionary practice can they realize self - liberation and the reform in its real sense.Mao Zedong's thoughts on the reform of peasants possess two important elements: One is the reform of outsiders-------the main object such as peasants ; the other is the reform of the Party members-------the main object such asthe CCP members. The problem of peasants is a basic one of the Chinese revolution, which in essence is a revolution of peasants. Although Guoming Party members led by Sun Yat - sen developed a positive attitude toward the problem of peasants in the great revolution and put forward such a slogan as "the cultivator owns his land.", They never really carried out the reform in the countryside and reformed peasants because of their class interests. However, the opportunists of the Party are the main obstacle for us to understand this question, because they don't believe that peasants can reform themselves in the revolutionary struggle and they can' t arouse the political consciousness of peasants as the main force. Furthermore, the reform to peasants can' t be realized according to the sacred experience of the CommunistInternational. The Party members led by Mao Zedong creatively opened up revolutionary bases in the countryside and successfully realized the reform to peasants in the countryside. The class consciousness replaced the religious family consciousness. The master consciousness replaced the dependence consciousness. The political participation took the place of political indifference . The innovative spirit took the place of the satisfaction with poverty and the existing condition. The healthy and civilized living style took the place of outmoded conventions and bad customs. The fierce fighting environm...
