| Economic analysis on social welfare may be made in at least two ways - normative analysis and positive analysis with quantitative methods. Normative analysis pays more attention to the system aspects of social welfare while positive analysis focuses on economic aspects, especially the economic welfare. The social welfare of narrow sense mainly reflects economic contents and its research methods are mostly positive. In the research, the economic welfare is considered as approximate substitution for the social welfare. The research on the social welfare of broad sense encompasses contents related to social ethic and social criterion. Its research methods are mainly normative. This thesis summarizes several basic research domains of welfare economics including social welfare and economic welfare, equality and efficiency, social welfare function, distribution and economic equality, public goods and their externalities as well as globalization and economic sustainable development. At present, there are two theoretic mistakes in evaluating welfare degree. One is the use of the GDP index and the FDI index to estimate a country's economic development degree. However, these indexes merely reflect economic efficiency, disregarding a country's overall welfare level. The other is the explanation for inequality only by "inverted U hypothesis". According to some research, most impecunious Countries have high Gini coefficient score. Then, a question arises that it is lack economic growth that leads to unfair distribution, Or it is the unfair distribution that leads to their lack economic growth. According to our study, economic development index must be combined with social equality index and social sustainable development index to evaluate a country's welfare. As for phenomenon of unfair distribution in economic development, we could use FSD, SSD combined MPS and sub-group decompose method etc. to analyze this issue further and guide relative policy-making.Quantitative methods have been applied mainly in part Hand chapter IV and chapter X. The author endeavors to avoid applying intricate tools in this study. In general, the method used is easier than that of optimization under restrict condition. Some exceptions are in chapter Vffl - finite period equilibrium method, chapter DC - stochastic analysis and chapter X - dynamic analysis. This thesis falls into three parts and fifteen chapters. The first part introduces the basic theories of social welfare, economic equality as well as competition equilibrium applied in welfare economics. It Discusses social status estimation method and describes statistic picture of Chinese present distribution status. The second part studies the dynamic of economy welfare in prefect competition market from the angle of Human capital, technology change, manufacturer enthusiasm, asset price etc. it also studies how to optimize selection of policies by evaluating economic welfare under different polices. The third part studies Chinese international competitiveness and its evolution under globalization. In the light of Chinese aims of sustainable development, it studies the relationship between sustainable development and sustained improvement of Chinese social welfare. The thesis is innovative in the follow ways. First, it for the first time differentiates economic welfare from social economic welfare as well as their different research methods. Secondly, it makes a full analysis on social welfare of narrow sense, namely, the economic aspect of social welfare. It studies one by one those dynamic features of various microeconomic factors affecting economic welfare such as Human capital, technology change, manufacturer enthusiasm, asset price etc. thirdly, it analyzes social welfare in accordance with national competence and economic sustainable development, aiming to form a correct expectation of the future social welfare. Finally, it studies various possible tools to assess social status and applies the above tools in studying the relationship between Chinese present openness with its social welf... |
