Shanghai City Competitiveness Research

The thesis, In consideration of the growing importance of economic function of urban district and relative weak study in this field, carries out a systematic research on competence of urban districts, so as to widen the study field of district competence,provide the theoretic foundation and practice guidance to the nurturing of metropolis district competence.The paper starts in introducing the background, meaning as well as the framework of thinking. Through reviewing the gathering and diffusing theory,country competence,city competence,industry competence and corporate competence, this research intends to master the new developing theory, the thesis study on the relationship between urban district competence and urban comprehensive competitiveness; analyzes the overall competence of urban districts in Shanghai based on static foundation,competition process and competitive potential, set up the district competence theoretic system.and compare the district competence of Shanghai in 2000; point out the trend of urban district competence;,therefore put forward strategies on how to improve competence for representive district-Jingan district. With a view to enhance the comprehensive competence of Shanghai, put forward a package of strategies to advance the district competence of Shanghai. The main output of the research is the formation of the "Tower Model" and a relatively integrative theoretic system which gives a comprehensive explanation of the concept of district competence in the theory research ; and put forward strategies which is especially instructive to the development of urban district in the practice research. To put it in detail, there are four aspects of innovation as follows:1,Take the competence of urban district as a type of district economy is a valuable innovation to deepen the research on district economy. Originate a district competence theoretic system which is easy to explain and use on the basis of competence theory .2,.Analyze the overall competence of urban districts in Shanghai based on static foundation,competition process and competitive potential. Comparative analysis and SWOT analysis have been used to diagnose the competence of Jingan district , put forward suggestions in how to build its competence.3,In order to advance the development potential and efficiency of district,develop a district evaluation system by use of the multi-index integrate analysis method, and count the competence of shanghai urban district in 2000. 4,With all this in view, nine strategies have been provided in nurturing urban district competence in the end.
