Critical Analysis Of The West Strategic Management Thoughts On A Rationality Perspective

Form the revolution of management thoughts, we can see that the formation of every management thought overflowed with philosophical thoughts. "Rationality" is the core of management philosophy, and the researches on management "rationality" always go with the revolution of management thoughts. So, this paper analyzes the strategic management form the advanced rationality perspective. In order to study on the rationality perspective of strategic management, this paper develops the research on the history of the West strategic management, and discovers the limitation of the rationalism in traditional strategic management thoughts through the critical analysis about them, therefore, advances the reconstruction of "rationality" in strategic management.First, a question frame is given in this paper, which is about how to study on the revolution of the West strategic management deeply from the philosophicalperspective--rationality. Then, the theoretical modality and knowledge foundationare supported by studying on the methodology and explaining rationality and rationalism in philosophic field. Furthermore, based on analyzing the background and historical context of the formation of the West strategic management, the roots of rationalism in strategic management are interpreted on the relationships between strategic management and economics, and strategic management and management.Secondly, this paper describes the theoretical representation of orthodox thoughts and unorthodox thoughts of strategic management and the connotative logical premises respectively. Then, form the rationality perspective, focusing on reflecting of logical premise and principle, by combining the scientific criticism pointing to contents and the philosophical criticism, this paper discovers the limitation of orthodox thoughts of strategic management through analyzing on management subjects, the theories and practices of strategic management. Furthermore, this paper discusses the illumination and restriction of unorthodox thoughts of strategic management that confronted with the orthodox thoughts. .Thirdly, this paper analyzes the effects on strategic management field by Post-modernism. Demonstrates the so-called drastic irrational character of postmodern thoughts of strategic management by comparing it with the unorthodox thoughts. Based on the postmodern meaning of strategy as a discourse, this paper deconstructs the rationality of orthodox thoughts of strategic management, advanced the connotative logical premises, and discusses the illumination and restriction of it.Finally, this paper discovers the new spontaneous trends of strategic management. Reviewing on the whole revolution of strategic management thoughts, this paper presents a tentative reconstruction of "rationality" in strategic management field. And, based on general definition of "rationality" and various expressions of practice-oriented rationality, this paper advances the reconstruction principles of strategic management and the basic connotation. Furthermore, this paper illuminates this idea from both the arena and fountain of practice innovation.
