On The Development Route Of Regional Central City

Region and development are two key words, with regard to the thesis of regional economic development. In an relative independent region, the central city is the growth pole of regional economy, which functions to agglomerate regional development. When taking into account the mutual relationships between regions, the central city also has radiation function because various mutual relationships, in the form of traffic networks, exist between the regional cities and peripheral regions.This paper consists of seven chapters.Chapterl: the model of regional division and the growth order of central city. Beginning with the analysis that regional division of labor begets the movement of critical elements among cities, the paper designs a model of movement of critical elements between two cities or four cities, to indicate that the movement of critical elements in a region generates central city, deepens the existing division results and forms regional central city. This paper regards holds that there are two development forms growth pole and growth order and two development dimensionality of regional central city. The interacting of the two dimensionality constitutes a development platform or network for cities, and the central city's regional nature is showed just by the borderline of the platform or the fringe of the network. Therefore, the development route of regional central city is the final result from the two strength's resultant force: the developmental trend from region to city belt and the developmental trend from city belt to region.Chapter 2: the general mechanism of regional central city. Beginning with various research visual angles of cities, the paper reviews, combs andsummarizes the concept of central city, and generalizes six characteristics of regional central city. It goes on to define the energy level of central city by calculating the economic potential energy of a city and the radius of a city belt, and emphasizes that the division, cooperation and competition mechanism will determine the growth order of cities in China in 21st centuryChapter 3: the spatial development route of regional central city. Beginning with the space, structure classification and stratification of central city, this paper analyzes macroscopically regional spatial structure's development, and points out that the formation and transformation of spatial structure of central city is an inevitable result of the interaction of internal and external market power and social power of a city. It shows a natural process of a city's spatial progressive development. The changing process of regional central city's section space is always starting from some agglomerating spots first formed by manufacturing activity and daily life. Then expansion of production scale and the change of industrial structure lead to spatial extension, accompanied by the formation of industry chain servicing production and infrastructure construction for the improvement of residents' material and spiritual life. Finally, fast spatial development appears, characterized by the construction of various development zone. In conclusion, growth of a regional central city from an ordinary city is a developmental process from spontaneous growth to self - conscious planning.Chapter 4: the development route of economy in regional central city. Under the background of new technique revolution and knowledge economy, this paper reaffirms the function of industrialization, informationalization and knowledge of regional central city's growth process, and proposes that the economic growth of regional central city is a dynamic growing process of industrialization , which is determined by two factors: economic cycle caused by product lifecycle and system transformation cycle.
