In fact, the history of mankind is a history of pursuiting freedom and equality. The freedom is the content of the equality, and the equality is the limits of the freedom. They are complementary to each other conditions. The highest value of the socialist goal is the realization of freedom and equality. Since entering class society, freedom and equality has always kept in conflict. In the private ownership society, there is a serious confrontation between individual and collective, and between the exploiters and exploited exist serious inequalities—there is the freedom of the former, there will be no freedom of the latter. Most western ideas of freedom and equality come from Super-class abstract exploration. Marx and Engels made their own ideas of freedom and equality on the basis of subletting western related ideas. Their socialist ideology has reflected the unity of opposites in implementation of freedom and equality. The reason why Socialism can take root in China is the inevitable logic that Chinese people pursuit freedom and equality, and it is closely linked with the modern transformation of traditional Chinese freedom and equality thought. In modern times, Chinese people pursuit the freedom and the equality unceasingly to realize the national independence, prosperous and powerful, and has played many powerful living dramas. Chinese Communists with Mao Zedong as the representative summoned by freedom and equality, mobilizing the most general populace, against the old system struggles, after the new Democratic Revolution, so that contacted it with the establishment of the socialist system in China in the end. But in the socialist construction, Mao Zedong favored in freedom with neglecting equality, as a result it had caused significant setback in socialism practice. Since reform and opening up, the planned economy approaches the market economy switcher gradually, and the people have obtained the unprecedented freedom. But at the same time, equality often reflects equality of opportunity, so the freedom and the equality are uncoordinated. With China's rapid modernization forward, the freedom and equal relations problem are highlighted again. It is essentially People-oriented and realizes the coordination of freedom and equality to build a well-off society comprehensively, construct a socialist harmonious society and implement the scientific development concept. Socialism is a lofty ideal, and is especially a real movement, so it necessarily exists in the contradiction between freedom and equality. It is an important issue in the study of scientific socialism how to understand the relationship between them.
