The New Democratic Revolution And China's Modernization

The relationship between revolution and modernization is a academic research hot spot in recent years, howerver, academic circles doesn' t yet reach unified cognition about this, and even diametrically opposing views come into being. Having a correct understanding of the relationship between New Democracy Revolution and China modernization, relates to the cognition and valuation to many significant matters of right and wrong. So, this is an important issue need to be studied in-depth and solved carefully. Guided by Marxist historical materialism, this dissertation persists in the principle of seeking truth from facts and linking theory with reality, makes every effort to take many-sided and reliable historical materials as bases, carries out all-round and thorough research on the relationship between New Democracy Revolution and China modernization. Through the analyses of the relationships between New Democracy Revolution and China economic modernization, political modernization and cultural modernization, this dissertation makes objective impartial valuation on the status and role of New Democracy Revolution in the course of China modernization. Main views held by the dissertation are:First, the most fundamental issue in modern China was to emancipate and develop productive forces, New Democracy economic program proposed by CPC was to solve China social and economic problems. New Democracy economy was a composite economy leaded by public(state-owned)economy with the coexistence of multiple economic sectors, represented the development direction of China advanced productive forces, benefited to emancipate and develop productive forces. The construction achievements of New Democracy economy promoted China economic modernization development. We do not deny the revolutionary war cost caused certain effects on economic modernization within a certain period. But, the ultimate pros and cons of revolution on the modernization can not be measured by the cost of war, the cost of war and the modernization accomplishment brought by New Democracy Revolution can not be mentioned in the same breath.Second, political modernization faced many obstacles and difficulties in modern China. New Democracy Revolution won national independence and the liberation of the people, acquired the premise conditions of political modernization. CPC was the party which had modern spirit most in modern China, established a leadership position gradually in revolution. The people's democratic dictatorship which established under the victory of New Democracy Revolution was a unique political modernization model, it paved the way for China politics development. However,CPC couldn't give top priority to the task of building democratic politics in New Democracy Revolution period, especially, the ways to mobilize the masses which adopted to fight for the victory had some side effects on democratic politics construction.Third, guided by Marxist, New Democracy culture was advanced culture with distinct times feature. The national, scientific and popular culture embodied the development requirements of cultural modernization, resolved the key issues of China culture to develop, found the way of China culture to advance.The great achievements of New Democracy culture constrction promoted China politics economy and culture transformation forcefully, and played an important role in China culture history serving as a link between past and future. At the same time, generated in New Democracy Revolution period, New Democracy culture was revolutionary culture, mainly for worker-peasant-soldier services, carried certain limitation of the times. Evaluating New Democracy culture need historical and scientific attitude.Forth, the victory of New Democracy Revolution was the beginning of a new era in China modernization process. CPC became the party in power, built an efficient and effective central government with modern orientation, transformed China modernization from passive dependent type into initiative independent type thoroughly. All these provided driving force to the initial development of socialist modernization. At the same time, New Democracy Revolution had a certain inertia, the twists and turns in socialist modernization had close ties with New Democracy Revolution struggle ways, as well as the inertia effect of the class struggle thinking of CPC formed in the process of leading New Democracy Revolution.In short, New Democracy Revolution was a complete and successful modern revolution. We do not deny the cost of New Democracy Revolution, but also must not deny revolution, because without this price payout, there would be no revolutionary victory, without the victory of New Democracy Revolution, there would be no socialism in China, today, the great achievements of socialist modernization would be impossible,too.
