The process of the transition of China from traditional empire to modern national states is also the world-rization process of China, at the same time, the consolidation of national identity and the development of international consciousness of Chinese is a two combined into one process. In overall view, whether at the national level, or at the societal level, Chinese people's national identity and international consciousness are always in a nervous state in the entire modernization process. Therefore, how to cultivate a healthy and mature international consciousness in order to form a scientific and rational national identity has been an important question for modern China in the field of theory and practice. Since reform and opening up in 1978, with China's growing in all directions into the international community, the relations between international consciousness and international identity of contemporary China is also faced with a new starting point.As a result of the adjustment of the international situation, the variety of international attitude to China, the impact of China's rise and Chinese traditional culture, the contemporary Chinese people's international consciousness has undergone a significant change and has become more pluralistic, confident, rational and initiative. However, in these positive changes, there are still some uncertainties in Chinese people's international consciousness.Because of the evolutiong of international consciousness, the contemporary Chinese people's national identity has also changed dramatically. Of course, some have a positive impact, while others are negative. In the process of interact of the country and the people, Chinese people show a complexity of love-hate feelings to the country.Although the international consciousness and national identity of contemporary China have achiceved progress obviously, but there are still many problems, which need us establish constructive new ideas in these two areas and look for practical and effective new channels. We should co-ordinate the overall interests of both domestic and international, establish a world perspective, enhance strategic thinking, to cultivate a Great Power psychology which is moderate rather than extreme, rational and not fanatical, open rather than narrow-minded, and that will be a good psychological foundation to bring about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and build a harmonious world...
