With the further development of globalization, developing countries, especially the underdeveloped minority areas in those countries have sped up the pursuit of modernization. At the same time, the traditional culture owned by the ethnic groups, particularly by the ones with less population has been gradually losing its dominance, which has increasingly become a trend nowadays.Therefore, in today's context of economic globalization, the problem about how the ethnic groups with less population get an effective transmission of their traditional culture to achieve sustainable development has gradually become the focus that the international and domestic organizations and academia are paying attention to.Many scholars in China have already started research on the social and cultural changes about the ethnic groups with less population. However, Few people carry out research on the Blang ethnic group. Previous studies on the traditional ethnic culture of Blang monority concentrated on historical and current description only through historic records and literature, showing little theoretical study as well as practical care with fully accumulated data. It was rare for us to see the researches on the preservation and inheritance of Blang traditional culture through combination of the methods such as the theoretical analysis paradigm and perspective of sociology of education and anthropology in the way of etic and emic.This study has selected two Blang ethnic group communities in Shidian County and Shuangjiang County in Yunnan Province to explore the social and cultural changes about Blang ethnic group through theoretical study and field research,trying to make research results more realistic and appropriate. Specifically, this study will pursue the trajectory and reasons of cultural change about Blang ethnic group, particularly will concern the interaction between transmission of traditional culture and the educational practice with the use of sociology, educational sociology, anthropology, theoretical models and research methods in the perspective of cultural relativism, In addition, this study will consider in the way of etic and emic under specific social environment how to be healthy transmission of traditional culture about Blang ethnic group, which is also the focus and innovations of this study.This paper covers 7 chapters in total and the details of each chapter are as follows:Chapter one, Exordium. The reason and significance of choosing the topic as a dissertation. Defining the core concepts, reviewing the relevant to the study home and abroad, telling the focus and innovations of the study. Describing the theoretical analysis paradigm and research methods. Giving a brief introduction on fieldwork site.Chapter two, Historical Roots and Population Distribution. Overview of the history and changes of Blang ethnic group, as well as a goneral population distribution description.Chapter three, Livelihoods and Basic Necessities. Overview of the evolution of livelihoods and the changing situation of basic necessities of Blang ethnic group. Analyzing the reasons for change.Chapter four, Religion and Ethics. Introducing the religion and traditional ethics of Blang ethnic group, Investigating the change and the realistic function of the traditional beliefs.Chapter five, Customs and Culture. Brief of the changes of the traditional marriage customs, festivals and customary law of Blang ethnic group.Analysis of the plight and the features of tea culture transmission of Blang ethnic group.Chapter six, Education Model and Cultural Transmission. It is the focus of the dissertation. Probing into the traditional mode of education (family, community, monastery) and its function changes; Reviewing the development and change of modern school education; Carrying out a field survey on the status of school education and probing into the educational change and the effectiveness. The study found:The function of cultural transmission of traditional mode of education is increasingly weakening modern education does not play its due role in the national cultural transmission. In this background, some discussions about the relationship between education and cultural transmission are carried on.. Therefore, pointing out that it is the best choice for the cultural transmission of Blang ethnic group from a cultural inferiority to cultural awareness.Chapter seven:Discussion and Reflection.It is the conclusion part of this dissertation. Discussing how Blang ethnic group seek self-development under the impact of modernization. Exploring the development of Blang ethnic group communities on the base of reviewing the theory of cultural adaptation, At last pointing out that it is the best way to pursue social development community in the cultural adaptation for the better future of Blang ethnic group communities.
