The New Ballad's Function Of Emotional Education

Ballads are doggerels about various issues and phenomena, which are created by the grassroots in simple languages, to express their true emotion. Ballad is the result of the masses evaluating activity, which is the art of the masses evaluating activity. Ballad is a very traditional art, but it renew with the social changes, especially it reflects many new issues and new phenomena since 1978. This dissertation defines the ballads since 1978 as"new ballads", and interpret new ballads from the perspective of evaluation, to prove that new ballads have the function of entertainment and emotional education; and this dissertation will focus on the function of emotional education, which includes the persuading function, the warning function, and the waking function.In my dissertation, the persuading function of new ballads is mainly about eros. This kind of new ballads emphasizes emotional communication, and the most mild among new ballads. From the love between man and woman to the love between husband and wife, new ballads focus on love and desire, the persuading function of new ballads is to make the public to understand the essence of true love. The warning function of new ballads is mainly about corruption, which is the grassroots'evaluation on the officials. From the ancient time, China has the tradition to collect ballads to evaluate the officials, for ballads are sensitive and promptly, and they are the"wind vane"of the society. New ballads reflect the worrying conscientiousness of the public, which are the"pulse"of the society. Ballads of drinking have a particular warning function on criticizing the bad deeds of the officials, which is associated to the reverence. The waking function of new ballads is mainly about the understanding of the"Five Fortunes"The pursuits on"longevity, good death, riches and honors, health and peace"show the concerns on"life";"the body is mortal, while the fame is everlasting","good morality"can help the people to acquire the peace of the soul, to obtain an immortal life. New ballads teach people to"accept the fate", such phronesis is the practice of the waking function of new ballads.The emotional education of new ballads is different from theoretical education. Emotional education can arouse resonance of the subject for further self-education. New ballads can acquire the aim of emotional education by joking in the way of meeting the demand of the masses, reflecting the emotions and wisdom of the masses. Although ballad is the art of grassroots, the thought about emotional education can arouse meditation and reflect the society.
