The thesis explores the basic theories of the Internet-Based Education (IBE). It is based on the dialectical materialism and the historical materialism. In the view of the relation between a medium and education, it pays attention to some thoughts and methods of Post-Modernism Philosophy and absorbs some thoughts, theories and methods of the medium culture and the communication theory. After dividing the history of education by a new standard, the thesis reconsiders education in the Age of Pre-Network Culture, identifies and analyzes and affirms the elements and the basic elements and their relationship of IBE. Then the author inquires the essence of IBE, and analyzes the relation between IBE and Pre-Internet-Based Education (PIBE) creatively.IBE is an existence of the Information Age, a product of a culture and it is a result from the development of society and education. However, the question, "What is the essence of IBE?" has being disturbed education, society, and human being. If the essence of a matter is not clear, the definition is difficult to make. The thesis challenges the century problem, and tries to take the risk of resolving this puzzle.The thesis consists of there parts, nine chapters.Part one studies the history of the education again, from the changes of media and the relation between media and education. It consists of Chapter I , II ,III and Conclusion.In chapter one, by exploring the origin of human being and language, the author finds the special value of language on human being and the characteristics in the Language Culture Age.Then, the author clearly demonstrates that language created the human education.In chapter two, by looking back the history of the written language, the author discovers that the appearance of the written language promoted the birth of school. Then the author discusses the first education revolution.In chapter three, after recognizing that the discovery of electricity accelerated the development of the society, the author demonstrates the situation of the education in the Electricity Culture Age.In conclusion, the author summarizes the education models in three culture stages. Especially, the author analyzes the relation of the elements, and discusses three ideas: "one small step means a big jump", and so no.Part two focuses on the Network Culture Age. As the main body of the thesis, it establishes the basic elements of IBE and reveals the relationship of them. It consists of Chapter IV,V,VI, VII.In chapter four, after studying the characteristics of the Internet and the history of the network and the Internet , it shows the interactive relation among technology, society, and education, and suggests the relation between request and control, technology and society, technology and education.In chapter five, the author investigates the origin of IBE, describes the development of IBE at home and abroad, in order to conduce to studying IBE and its essence.In chapter six, based on the philosophy analysis of system and element, the author disintegrates the elements and the basic elements of IBE, with the help of the theories of the education science.In chapter seven, the author integrates the basic elements,studies the each basic element. Then, it insights into IBE, tries to find out the basic relation among them.Part HI based on Part I , II is the core of the thesis, analyzing the essence of IBE, consisting of Chapter VIII,IX.In chapter eight, in the point of philosophy, briefly, it demonstrates substance, essence and attribute, and generalizes some questions on the study of the education essence.In chapter nine, it clearly demonstrates the essence and the nature of IBE, based on the statement above. Furthermore, it distinguishes IBE and PIBE.In conclusion, it summarizes some inspirations from the study and makes conclusion for the thesis.
