The Higher Education Development In View Of The Modernization Of The Countryside

The development of higher education must adapt to and accord with the demand for higher education in. Firstly,it must adapt to the demand for different types of advanced professional talents in the modernization of the countryside. Secondly,it must meet the demand of higher education for the individuals in the countryside and provide knowledge and capability bases for the efficient shift of the labor force in the countryside. The present thesis,consisting of the four parts of the internal mechanism between the modernization of the countryside and the development of higher education,the demand for higher education in the modernization of the countryside in China,the present condition of how higher education adapts to the modernization of the countryside and the problems remained. And the strategic choices in developing higher education in the modernization of the countryside,is a study of the demand for higher education in the modernization of countryside,and how higher education provisions efficiently in accordance with this demand.The first part is a probe into the,relationship between the modernization of the countryside and the higher education. Man is the important content and compositive section of the whole system of modernization. The key point of the modernization of the countryside is to improve the quality of the residents in the countryside,and the improvement of the quality will further engender the demand for higher education. The development of higher education is the reinforcements of its adaptability to the society,embodied in the positive and active accordance between the form and the content of higher education with colleges and universities as its main body. Therefore,the "demand guidance" of the society should be introduced into the development of higher education to meet the society's demand for different types of advanced talents at different levels.Part Two deals with the demand for higher education in the modernization of the countryside. The current modernization of the countryside has put forward new demands for higher education,represented by the modernization including industrial structure adjustment of agriculture,industrialized management of agriculture,the practice of ecological agriculture,the development of industry in the countryside,the efficient shift of the labor force in the countryside,and some other aspects. All these aspects produce the demand for higher educational quality of the labor force,which is further reflected by the demand for higher education.Part Three contains Chapter Three and Chapter Four. As has been proved by the history of higher education in China,to develop higher education catering to the demand of the countryside,we must draw support from the given conditions in politics,economy,andculture,especially the payment ability of the peasants and the countryside;and the condition for efficient provision of higher education lies in truly understanding the demand for higher education. Only after the structural adjustment and reforms can higher education better cater to the modernization of the countryside and adapt to its demand higher education. In reality,the demand for higher education in the countryside cannot be satisfied,which is expressed by the unadaptability in quantity,quality and structure of the provisions of higher education in the countryside;consequently,the residents in the countryside are placed at a disadvantage in the opportunity of entering colleges and universities to receive higher education,and thus there exists certain potential demand for higher education among the residents of the countryside.Part Four,consisting of Chapter Five and Chapter Six,is an elaboration of some strategies for the developing of higher education. The development of higher education catering to the countryside,and the enhancement of higher education's adaptability to personnel training - all these make it necessary to perform a varied development of higher education in the countryside;thus developing colleges in prefectures and municipalities...
