On The Education Modernization And Humanity Modernization

As the two major research topics in the 21 stcentury, education modernization and humanity modernization have received widespread attention and academic study from contemporary scholars. With the concepts of Marxist anthropology as theoretical foundation, the thesis intends to explore the interrelatedness between education modernization and humanity modernization, and to seek the strategy of and the realistic path to realizing humanity modernization.The thesis is composed of five parts.The first part provides an overview of current status of research on education modernization and humanity modernization. The overview is primarily a systematic review of the research work, both at home and abroad, on education modernization,humanity modernization, and the interrelatedness between the two subjects.The second part probes into education modernization, which refers to the process to accomplish the modernization of education with the transformation from traditional education to modern education. It deals with the modernization of educational concepts,of educational objects, of educational content, of educational equipment, of educational teaching faculty, and of educational administration. The modernization of education features equality and universality, life-long education and trans-time-space, individuality and diversity, internationalism and openness, etc.The Third part is an exposition of humanity modernization. As a comprehensive concept, humanity modernization reflects the development of humanity modernization and accentuates the transformation of individuals from “traditional people” to “modern people”. Ever since the reform and open-up, the humanity modernization in China has embraced a great progress, with characteristics of the opposition in Sino-Western cultures,the difficulty in development road, the difference in developmental level, and the urgency in development. Besides, China's humanity modernization is on the way to constructing the index system of humanity modernization with Chinese characteristics.The fourth part elaborates on the significance of humanity modernization to education modernization. It considers that humanity modernization serves as the motivation, target as well as essence of education modernization, and the accomplishment of education modernization relies on humanity modernization, without which education modernization is stripped of impetus and goal.The fifth part discusses over the effect of education modernization on humanity modernization. Its major function lies in quickening the transformation from “traditional people” to “modern people”, promoting the modernization in the way of thinking,facilitating the modernized upgrade in personal ability structures, boosting people's comprehensive quality, and accelerating people's comprehensive development.The sixth part is an investigation in the solutions and countermeasures of accomplishing China's humanity modernization in light of education modernization. The first one is education modernization must commit to a fundamental change in educational concepts, and realizing humanity modernization. The second one is education modernization must commit to the improvement in educational institution, and promoting people's comprehensive development. The third one is education modernization should commit to the transformation from exam-oriented education to quality-oriented education,and the enhancement of people's comprehensive quality. The fourth one is education modernization must commit to developing life-long education and boosting people's sustainable development. The fifth one is education modernization must take in the essence in traditional education, and consolidate and enhance traditional culture.
