As a philosophical proposition concerning human's being, "dialogue" has been introduced to readmg instruction research field in recent years. The basic purpose of doing research in reading instruction according to dialogue is to approach the essence of reading instruction in theory and give effective advice to the practice of reading instruction. For reading instruction, neither is dialogue merely some easy instructional formality and instructional idea, nor it is a simple transplant from the idea of literature critics, philosophy or generic instruction theory. It has double meaning of ontology and axiology to study dialogue in reading instruction.There still exist a good many problems from the theoretical research and practice of reading instruction now. In theory, there are a variety of cognitional warps in the research of reading instruction; in practice, there are at present such wrong ways as keeping the transfer instruction but ignoring or even neglecting dialogue, and pursuing dialogue but implementing false dialogue in fact. Because of the disjoint of the theoretical and practical research of reading instruction, many theories can not be put into practice for proof-test finally. So the theory becomes an air castle without any practical applicable worth; while the practical research can only stay at the level of experience summarization for the lack of relevant instruction in end.Based on the confirmation of the basic research points, this paper starts with the essence of dialogue, and discusses the philosophical proposition of human beings' sustenance to which dialogue relates, and also answers the inbeing of relationship belong human beings and between the world. Through theoretically analyzing and logically deducing language and speech which is the reality of reading instruction from language philosophy and philology, it first brings forward the essence of language, and then discusses the relationship between language and speech, and forward analyzes dialogue, the realism of language and speech, and ends with such a conclusion that reading is dialogue. Through the systemic analysis of reading instruction, it elicits the dialogue essence of reading instruction system. At this level, the paper expounds two main aspects such as the intrinsic mechanism of reading dialogue and the practice of dialogue in reading instruction. The paper goes deep into the theory from the dimensionalities of philosophy, hermeneutics,linguistic cognition phsychology, instruction theory and learning theory. By paying attention to practice, it views and emulates Chinese classroom teaching, and also analyses throughly the speech behavior and non-speech behavior between teachers and students in classroom teaching. What this paper mainly wants to clarify are: the essence of dialogue in reading instruction, the intrinsic mechanism of reading dialogue, and the practice of dialogue in reading instruction in classroom.Through logical deduction and profound analysis, this research holds that reading instruction is compound-key practice in dialogue which comes down to texts, readers, pre-understanding, intertexual texts, other readers' understanding from the same or different space-time, and also the cultural factors relating to the texts.
