The research object of the thesis is the plastic arts of the nomadic peoples in North China."The nomadic peoples in North China" mentioned in the title of this thesis refers to the five nomadic peoples in North China: Hunnish people, Turkic people, Xianbei people, Kitan people and Mongolian people who have had their great influence in the history of both China and the world. And the others touching upon the culture and the plastic arts of the other nomadic peoples in North China such as Rouran and Wuhuan are not the momentous parts of the thesis. The time and space phase of the thesis are also the comparatively active historic period of the five peoples and their main territory— the Mongolian Plateau.In addition, the concept of the "plastic arts" referred in this thesis is limited in its narrow sense, namely the main contents of plastic arts: painting, sculpture, arts and crafts, architecture and finery. The research on finery has been classified into arts and crafts in some works on art classification, the thesis discusses them in two parts of one chapter.
