The Investigation For Urban Community Political Development In Su Nan Region With The Concept Of Civil Society

This dissertation looks upon community as strategic space in China's political development. Taking the discourse system of"civil society"as a new perspective into the development of China's urban community, this thesis proposes a tentative definition and connotation of community political development and makes an in-depth analysis of its inter-relation with the construction of civil society, by reviewing theories of political development and taking insights from achievements in relevant researches. On the basis of theoretical analysis, this thesis takes the past and present of urban community development in Su Nan Region as an example to exert a strong argument about its structural driving force—known as the keyword in community involvement and its political development—community self-management, which is followed by a profound discussion of its significance for the construction of civil society.This dissertation consists of six chapters. Chapter one talks about community political development in relation to political development, chapter two urban community political developments as a novel practice of civil society, chapter three historical review of community political development in Southern Jiangsu province, chapter four-community involvement as structural driving force of community political development in Southern Jiangsu province, chapter six conclusions.This dissertation adopts a combined methodology of theoretical probing and empirical study, which involves a Marxist methodology, democratic methodology in the field of politics as well as community methodology in the domain of sociology. In particular it applies literature review, questionnaire and interview as its research tools.
