The colleges (universities) of higher physical education in China is the important component of higher education, its developmental state to some degree influences the development of higher education, and the development of sport cause in our country. At the present, under the context of the stride development of higher education in China as well as comprehensively constructing better-off and harmonious Society, it is necessary to conduct the strategic research on reform and development of colleges (universities) of higher physical education. Therefore, this topic was chosen as the main research contents, overall analyzing the state of colleges (universities) of higher physical education, and furthermore putting forward the guiding strategies for reform and development so as to promote the development speed and quality of departments and colleges (universities) of higher physical education in our country, lay the solid foundation for the development of higher education in our country, and make the contribution to the development of sport cause.Such research methods were mainly employed in this research as literatures, questionnaires, expert interview, investigation abroad, and statistics. The conclusions have been drawn as follows:Firstly, Faced with the trend of increasingly intensive competition of international development and better state of social and economic development in our country, higher education, as the important part of "booming nation through science and education", was attached more importance to by the country. More attentions have been paid to selection of strategy, and such strategies as sustainable development, innovative development, and intensive construction. depending on the talents to enhance the schools, as well as overall coordination and holistic development will be implemented.Secondly, colleges (universities) of physical education in our country have experienced more than one century from nothing to existing. The lack of physical educators promoted the occurrence of colleges and departments of physical education at the end of Qing dynasty. The number of colleges (universities) and departments of physical education were adapted to the development need of society in the following different stages, and all of them were increased or decreased and adjusted to the different degree. From the beginning of the end of Qing dynasty, the development of colleges (universities) and departments of physical education experienced more than one hundred years, including Xinhai revolution, Beiyang warlord period and Kumingtang administration. After the liberation, it experienced the following different stages of initial stage of new China, socialist pursuit stage, reform and opening up, and three social systems. Up to now, there have been more than 250 colleges (universities) and department of physical education, forming three types of independent colleges (universities) and departments,physical education departments in normal universities and physical education colleges and departments in comprehensive universities.Thirdly, after the liberation, overall adjustment on colleges (universities) and departments of higher physical education were conducted for 4 times as the national action. After reform and opening up, they were conducted for three times. The overall trends are characterized by standardization and science in term of arrangement of physical education specialty in our country. However, during this process, the adjustment on physical education specialty took the main function, yet the other specialties were separated and derived from physical education specialty. Since the reform and opening up, the objective of talent cultivation in colleges (universities) and departments of physical education has been gradually extended through 5-times reform and adjustment from single teachers' development to multi-types of training for talents.
