Education and the labor flow are phenomena which coexist with human societies. However, in the long span of agricultural society, there is no obvious interdependency between them. Only after the Industrial Revolution, with the advance of industrialization, education and the flow of labor force increasingly intertwined, interacted, promoted mutually, and brought far-reaching impact on the development of economic society. On one hand, the enormous changes in the mode of production and industrial structure brought about by industrialization lead to a great deal of labor flow from rural areas into cities. On the other hand, the improvement of production techniques and the upgrade of industrial structure made greater demands of the labor coming from rural areas. Therefore, it is of theoretical and practical to study the evolvement, characteristics, existing problems and causes of education and labor flow. Since the reform and opening up and with the accelerated process of China's industrialization and urbanization, the workforce provided by education which fulfills the needs of the development of industrialization is so limited that it seriously hinders the flow of rural surplus labor. As a result, the incompatible problem between education and labor flow looms large. Thus, this article will focus on education and labor flow in order to promote the development of China's education and to improve the vocational skill of rural labor.This dissertation consists of three parts:The first part, that is, Chapter One is the introduction. It mainly puts forward the research objective, the current state of relevant research, meaning of the research as well as the train of thought and methodology. The article holds that education and labor flow is a collective concept, a social historic phenomenon, the reference between them different depending on different historic period. There is an interactive relationship between education and labor flow, education accelerating the flow of labor, the flow of labor leading to eager demand for education. When educational need of labor flow cannot be satisfied and the flow of labor is blocked, the maladjustment of education and labor flow will come about.The second part includes Chapter Two and Chapter Three, which reviews the history of education and labor force flowage at home and abroad. Chapter Two states that the history of education and labor flow can be divided into two stages in terms of the periods of industrialization and post-industrialization. In this chapter, the status of labor flow at different stages in major western developed countries is analyzed, and the development of education and labor flow surveyed. The...
