| Nowadays, more and more people are focusing on the sports, which is not only an indispensable part of education, but also one of the most indexes which assess the live quality of the society, and which becomes the focus and hot topic on the society with the coming 2008 Olympic Games. While we are excited and encouraged by the development of sports in China. It is naturally necessary to retrospect the hard road which Chinese modern sports has experienced. Where is the source of Chinese sports? What is the content of modern sports and how it is being formed and improved etc., ? The person who are engaged in the work of education theory and sports theory should answer the question mentioned above, especially the question about P.E.. The new style sports is 'a regenerate thing' in recent times. It has being rooted and improved in China because of Chinese being humiliated by others and the history of blood and jeremiad. As we know, weak people result in infirm armies, which will cause weak nations, and then it will be attacked by others. It is truth of which Chinese people have been aware after considering seriously in recent times. It is the reason for responding the times about the themes of 'save the nation from subjugation' and 'rich the country and power the armies as well' that bring about the new style sports as a branch achievements. We should know that all kinds of modern sports are coming as results of the sports in old times ( which is said by Cheng Deng-ke).The reason why the new style sports is 'new' is that it was introduced from abroad.. The articles of sports are not necessarily belong to China. Some functions of the new style sports are also of the old style spoits—impart the skills and knowledge of body building and improve the health as well as helping the people to cultivate the habit of exercise, though these two kinds of sports are different from their form, function and organization. The former related sports to school education closely, which is much more different from the latter. New style sports was brought to China from abroad mainly by church schools and the Youth Groups of Christian. Later on, it was actively brought in by Chinese people on the sound footing of studying and educational visiting abroad. All in all, on the spot of Chinese people, it was introduced by foreigners at the beginning, and then both introduced by foreigners and brought in by Chinese people in the mid times, eventually, it was brought in by Chinese people actively, which became the main ways of the importing of new style sports, for instance, inviting foreign educationist to give lectures to Chinese people, translating the works in sports and imitating the sports of western countries.The author of this paper focus on the discussing of the new style sports of the transient period of the ending of Qing Dynasty and Min Dynasty, from the year of 1881, when the new style sports was initiating in the Northern Fleeting School, to the year of 1927, when Nanjing people's government of the Democracy of China was founded. Hence, the title of the paper begins with 'Ending of Qing Dynasty and Beginning of Min Dynasty'. Main features: the ideological enlightenment; sports demonstrations; enriched the content of school education; founded a precedent for women's sports; promoted the sports science research.Secondly, new style sports promote the development of social sports, especially the sports games sponsored by Youth Group of Christian, which was much more rich and colorful and was also attractive. Main features: propagandized the common knowledge of modern ways of body building, organized all kinds of sports meetings, constructed sports field and ground where people could took part in sports, cultivated and trained cadreman of sports, accelerated the government officials to send students of sports major to study abroad.Thirdly, it has paved the way for China to join the Olympic Games as the introduction of new style sports. The international Olympic Games will be not worthy of the name without the participation of China. The articles of Olympic Games including almost all of new style sports. It is impossible for China to join in and sponsor the 2008 Olympic Games at all without the introduction and improving of new style sports.Eventually, new style sports played an important role as an social phenomenon after entering into China. Main feature: it promoted the new style education to be standard and perfect, broke the restriction of religion, promoted the course of combination of the culture between Chinese and western countries, made the nation of China more powerful and united.Indeed, there is the experience elucidated in the process of new style sports communications; However, there has something unsatisfactory. There are many lessons that are worth reviewing. Because this paper is taken as the " history of communication between China and western countries " perspective, rather than political history, education history, the history of religion, or national historical perspective.
